My name is Adam Bowles, my wife is Candie. We live in the Ripley WV area. My Sweetie is in her 37th year as a school teacher, sixth grade history at Ripley Middle. Her maiden name was Aldridge. There may be a few on here who knew her late father, Fred. He was head basketball coach at George Washington HS back in the day. Candie is his youngest.
Monday we went to the doctor thinking we’d get a cortisone shot in her hip, already getting them for knees, for a new little issue. Probably talk some preliminary hip replacement stuff. We came home with a cancer diagnosis. My Sweetie has stage four breast cancer, and it has moved to three spots on her lower torso. It is not, it appears/we were told, in her lymph nodes. We are awaiting results from a Tuesday morning biopsy now. We have a referral to Cleveland Clinic lined up, and a doctor there assigned.
We both accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior years ago. Candie is active at our church. Since Monday we have asked for help on prayers from everyone we can think of. I should have come here sooner. Already we are feeling a peace and calmness that wasn’t there Monday. So I’m here asking. If you are so inclined, please pray for her. Please add her to any prayer list you have access to. Please mention me also, that I can keep it together and be everything she needs me to be.
Additionally, we were not as diligent on health care, check ups and such, as we should have been. I failed her in this area by not pushing/insisting. Guys, don’t let your wives, daughters, moms and sisters put this stuff off!
We are, she is insisting, being as normal as possible in our days. She has taken the rest of the year off, but I’ll be back to work Sunday. We have a wonderful support group of three ready and able adult children, additional family and friends. My employer(Ergon) and my management team has given me the “whatever you need to do”. We are truly blessed.
