and STILL won $40 in skins by hitting it close on 2 par 3's.......I shot 87 should have been 80....my friend shot 77 and won nothing except the $5 from each of us for the best score....go figure....of course I had to buy the beer

Cypress Point was awesome. Easily the best course I've ever played.

That's the par 3 16th. The carry on the direct line to the hole is about 235. The wind was blowing at us. I blocked it right into the water and made double. When MacKenzie designed the hole, he originally intended for it to play as a par 4. Marion Hollins, who was the brains and drive behind building Cypress, convinced him to make it a par 3. It's a brutal hole. There is a bail-out short and left leaving a 60-70 yard pitch. But I went for it which screwed my shot at breaking 80. Here are a few more pics:

wow....if you couldn't break 80 I'd have needed a damn abacus...that hole is like that 230 par 3 at Pete Dye...except the Dye one is a little downhill

nice..I shot 78 one day with I think was 13 pars..played with a guy who shot 93 but birdied a par 4..no one else birdied the hole and he won 32 ..we played carry overs.golf is and never will be fair.
