I know that the bowls don’t have to pick the Big 12 teams in the order they finished, but the order of selections by the bowls IS in cement. They pick in this order:

National playoffs (Oklahoma?)

Valero Alamo Jan. 2 5:45 p.m. in San Antonio (vs. Pac-12 team)
Russell Athletic Dec. 29 4:30 p.m. in Orlando (vs. ACC team or ND)
AdvoCare V100 Texas Dec. 29 8 pm. In Houston (vs. SEC team)
AutoZone Liberty Jan. 2 2:20 p.m. in Memphis (vs. SEC team)
Cactus Jan. 2 9:15 p.m. in Phoenix (vs. Pac-12 team)
Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl Dec. 26 1:20 p.m. in Dallas (vs. C-USA team)

I would think the top 3 non-Football Final Four bowls would pick Oklahoma State, Baylor and TCU over WVU.

Next pick goes to the Liberty bowl, which probably would love a matchup between the Mountaineers, who would travel well to Elvis’ haunting grounds, and an SEC team, although I don't have a clue who that would be by the time the SEC gets to the Liberty level.

The Cactus would be happy with Texas Tech against a Pac-12 team in Phoenix.

Unless Kansas State beats WVU next Saturday, only six Big 12 teams qualify for bowl games, without getting an exemption.

I would think Advocare in Houston may trade down to get a Tex Tech/Tex A&M matchup...although Cactus would also likely be interested in the Red Raiders as you say CFE...I always enjoy the projections this time of year...especially when the Mountaineers have a landing spot!!!....somewhere....

--Huge drop in payout from Texas to Liberty bowl..... 3 million down to 1.5. Even the Pinstripe dishes out 2 mil.

_-The Liberty seems like the better time slot though. 3;30 est on Saturday is better than 9 pm Tuesday...right ?

--I imagine attendance from WVU fans would be better in Tennessee vs. Texas... ...not to mention the SEC depending on their location In (aka Tennessee).

--The chance of WVU getting picked over another big 12 ream is slim....again that location thing...so I expect bowls to pick in order of the standings

We are not going to the Liberty Bowl

OP failed to even address the Sugar Bowl

Good stuff.... ....a few minutes earlier (than your above post) you noticed someone mention that on TOS (You quoted that person) and you couldn't wait to come over here and give CFE a double-dip.

As it stands now he's no more incorrect about our participation in the liberty bowl than you. ...despite you declaring as a matter of fact otherwise, we could end up in Tennessee.

Actually, we wont be going to Memphis simply because we went there last year and they dont like to duplicate lineups.... Alamo Bowl or we go to Orlando to beat up UNC or Pitt (ooh, tasty)

But OP starts a thread with a definitive statment on both boards, and completely Fs it up...... And his only supporter says "Hey, he is no less wrong than anyone else"

How do you forget the Sugar Bowl?! lol....

Another I saw said same Cactus but vs Cal...Sorry but can't remember the link...I think Cactus has the #5 B12 which should be right in our wheelhouse with a victory (for once) over KSU...

And on the Liberty angle...what is it 50 degrees there in late December on a good day? This would be the worst day in Phoenix or Orlando....Gimmie someplace fairly warm and I'll do my best to swing it...also how many daily non-stops into both Orlando, and Phoenix from basically points anywhere?....Getting to Memphis is a pain in the ass imo....

I say the conference will definitely not want just six. If we get a bowl written in stone....unless a win puts in a better one. Whats the reason to win next week. We will take one for th conference to get that extra team in.

Good lord man, I'm on your side more than most here, but no need to be a asshole to CFE!! Just giving his opinion, scroll on down if you don't wanna read it!!

First of all KSU will get a bid not matter what happens vs WVU. If they are 5-7 they will get a bid because the fit all the criteria that the NCAA is considering for picking the 5-7 teams to fill the 3 to 5 bids that will be filled with 5-7 teams. KSU has the 2nd highest APR score, the big 12 has at least one empty bowl slot. Those are the two leading criteria.

We never need to look at payouts - they have zero meaning if you are a member of a conference. Once expenses are taken care the remaining money goes into the bowl money that the B12 collects and then divides equally between the membership.

And I can not believer that CFE forgot that we get a team in the Sugar bowl then the Alamo and then Orlando. Those will take up OK St, TCU and Baylor. Houston and Memphis will get WVU and TTU. KSU will go to Phoenix.

Actually they are looking to make a change to that as there are not enough teams with winning records to fill the bowls.

You do realize that CFE only made this thread so he could set the groundwork for his "this is us now... The best of the rest" postings that he has done since we started winning again, right?

He is simply going to focus on his "this"crappy" Liberty Bowl being our watermark under Dana" stance and a few will bite

The Liberty Bowl would be great considering everything WVU has been through this season. A game against an SEC opponent would give us a chance at a signature win depending on who it is and much to the chagrin of some "fans." I like this bowl close proximity so I can attend and WVU gets a chance to beat a SEC team which is always great. The only thing better would be The Russell Athletic Bowl because of Florida and a lil better opponent but either will be a success. Just don't forget WVU has its 5th toughest game to play yet against K State on the road so still early to worry about bowl games. Lets get 5 straight wins to end the season with a chance for 6 and a top 25 ranking so the true fans can feel good about next season!

Lol now the Liberty Bowl is a crappy bowl. Nope an AAC bowl or Marshall's bowl will be a crappy bowl.

I don't know much about anyone's agenda just yet, I try to mind my own business usually!! Guess all the bickering back and forth is getting to me lol

You better hope for a Pitt match-up there because UNC is not a game WVU wants to see.

Our defense would destroy them... They've faced no one this year with a defensive pulse. When they did face even marginal defenses, they lost to SC and took overtime to beat Beamer's VT squad. Their schedule was pathetic........

You do realize our victories are over teams that are a combined 31-50, with 14 of those victories being by GA Southern and Liberty?

The talk seems to be away from Memphis and on to Orlando or the Cactus Bowl.
I would love to see Arizona vs. WVU in the Cactus. Then we'd have head to head comparison of Rich and Dana.
But I'm more interest in my alma mater beating Kansas State and that darn coach Bill Snyder on Saturday at Kansas State, WVU winning its basketball game to be unbeaten when Huggins goes against Virginia.
But Saturday football will be interesting. And then the Football Final Four committee can make its choices and the dominos will fall on the other bowls and we'll all know who WVU will play in the bowl.

M ighty defense throttled Georgia Southern, 44-0
