It looks like Bama is getting players from all the speed states. Clemson gets players from the speed state of Florida but seems to ignore Texas and California. WV has ties to both Florida and Texas for recruiting purposes and is well positioned.

Florida athletes are far superior to Texas athletes and Clemson gets players from Georgia which is pound for pound probably better than Texas

Yeah....these teams get 4-5 star players...play for a national title game.

We get 2-3 star players....play in Cactus Bowl.

USC and A&M have had top 10 ranked classes for the previous years too. So have Tennessee and Miami, yet no titles in the last 10 years. And all those schools played in non New Years Top Bowls (sugar, Orange, Cotton, Fiesta, Rose, Peach).

Much of the rankings on players are overblown.
The NFL has 1st round abd can't miss busts every year. College is even more of a gamble.

Takes coaching and also developing talent and the person.

Who was the better player @ WVU?

Btw Saban has won titles with teams NOT full of 4 & 5 star players. He is that good.. ... To quote Bum Phillips, "he can take his and beat yours, and take yours and beat his."

you get what you pay for..it shouldn't be surprising that two of the most corrupt programs in history played for the title..wish the NFL would start a minor league system so this could be eliminated.

ColoradoKoolAide........................Georgia ain't a speed state! So............you can't be right! At least not on a pound for pound basis. Besides............you left out the P in Clempson!

Toxic Texas Georgia currently has 115 players in the NFL which is 4th in the country. They have a population of 10 million, Texas is currently 3rd in producing NFL players with 181 with a population of 26 Million. Georgia produces far more NFL players based on that ratio when you compare the size of each states population. Like I said pound for pound Georgia is superior. Its pretty clear math isn't your strong point

CKoolAideBoy....................where you get your facts? Your numbers don't stand up to scrutiny! How much you weigh pound for pound? I bet I can beat you in math............pound for pound! When did you attend WVU?

I think we are a bit below where need to be comparing ourselves to the NC game teams. How are we doing in terms of escaping the mediocrity rut is a more immediate concern.

Thus far, this is how the major services rank the 2016 class:

Scout: 38th total points/ 44th Average stars
Rivals: 40th total/ 50th avg. stars
24/7: 45th total/ 52 average stars
ESPN: ???, >40 (Need insider access to view above 40)

I do think the "ranking" aspect is way overblown. Beyond the elite schools that very often finish in the top 10 and the bottom feeders that very often finish outside top 50, these rankings provide at best a very rough guide.

I think this is more pronounced in the middle. I'd like to see a study showing that classes ranked 20 perform better than classes ranked 40 to a statistically significant degree before I believe it.

That said, I do think rough groupings mean something.

KoolAide..............I saw the 'block' parties from the inside. You still have a job for me? I have been unemployed for about the last 25 years. Living off the grid gets cold and a mans stays hungry.
