OT: Ole Miss tap on the wrist

Pratt, like GetYa said these are only self-imposed. The way the NCAA works they will most likely reduce them. ;-)

"Ole Miss has self-imposed a double-digit reduction in scholarships for football, as well as an already-served postseason ban for women's basketball, as part of its response to an NCAA notice of allegations that was released Friday morning."

But to be self imposed, doesn't that mean the NCAA has approved them?

No it means the school is saying look we're punishing ourselves to show we're trying to fix the problem. The ncaa can still add to it. It is a way of the school showing cooperation and openness and demonstrating the school has taken it seriously & done their investigation (sort of).

If the school doesn't do that, the ncaa can say we're going to drop it on you. If you don't cooperate the hammer will be a harder drop.

Better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission, and once you get caught just offer up a settlement you can live with and that's all these self-imposed punishments are - settlement offers.

It has always been my assumption that if you self impose kids are not allowed to transfer. If the NCAA bans you from the postseason they will let players transfer without sitting a year.

That might be true, and it wouldn't surprise me.

UL did their thing for one reason....to preserve recruiting. Petino knew he didn't have a NC contender and those kids are committed already. Why waste this year and then lose further post seasons?

UL is literally the one school that keeps me from saying that Baylor has the worst impression nationally.
