OT: Morgantown Municipal Airport breaks ground at runway extension

This was part of the original agreement of joining the Big 12 was it not?

I think that was just message board f#ckery.
Not according to Don Nehlen and his talk with then commissioner Chuck Neinas

Nehlen reports the conversation went like this, or something close to it;

NEHLEN: Hey, Chuck, what’s up?

NEINAS: Do you want in the Big 12?

NEHLEN: Yes we do.

NEINAS: Well, I’ll tell you what. If you want in, you are going to have to play next year and you’ve got to get an airport so we can land in Morgantown.

And that was that.

“I left the airport up to Dr. Clements. I said, ‘You handle that one,’” Nehlen said.

Let’s just say that’s still ongoing.

Sure wish there would be a direct flight from Akron/Canton Airport to Morgantown Airport. Would eliminate a 3.5-hour drive each way for me. At 88, it's becoming tougher to handle. It's usually 13 hours from the time I leave Tallmadge till the time I arrive back in Tallmadge. But I'm not missing Mountaineer Field games again this year. Pandemic year ended my 30-year consecutive run with 2 season tickets between the 30s in the West stands. God, I missed being there and being forced to watch it on my 85-inch TV!

Like with anything with the Federal Government it takes time.
Don't know when they first submitted everything to the FAA. But I guess before that happens you have to get things worked out locally and with the state.

Regarding those regional planes...

Screw that. I like being in control.

Had a flight out of LAX to DFW and was suppose to catch one of those American Eagle Flights to SHV the regional airport in Shreveport.
Because of the flight being delayed in Los Angeles I got to DFW Airport 10 minutes after the last flight of the night to Shreveport. Wasn't one leaving until 8:00 in the next morning.
Pretty much was stuck there unless I wanted to rent a car or have someone drive me to see my parents.

After that I never paid for any of those planes again. Made sure I had transportation lined up that would leave anytime that I got there.
I could have gotten on American Airlines flight to any major airport at that time but couldn't get one for an airport 200 miles away.

So it's taken 9 years to just begin to fulfill the original obligation to join the B12?
So you think you know what you're talking about but what it really means is Mini U still jealous of WVU.
