my nephew said the Super Six folks really treated them well.......they had their game jerseys and cleats cleaned and laid out in front of their individual lockers...they all got t-shirts, sweatshirts, toboggans.game program and a plaque. Championship rings in three weeks. The boy is only a soph and his real sport is baseball, but he is on top of the world right now....1st state title in 104 years

Saint Mary's must have had a hell of a team. Shoot, they beat Fayetteville 47-0. Wasn't surprised they beat them, but wasn't expecting it to be that bad, particularly after Fayetteville beat Wheeling Central. St. Mary's has won state titles before though in other sports, as I recall them being very good in track back in the 70's and 80's, so I'm sure they won track titles back then. Perhaps you're only talking about football.
Congrats to your nephew and St. Mary's. My cousin who graduated from there a few years ago is thrilled too.Everything I've ever heard about the Super Six experience in Wheeling is positive. Maybe a bit far of a trip for Mingo Central who won the AA championship. My neighbors grandson plays for Fairmont Senior and he posted a picture of his locker, laid out exactly as you describe. The last time I attended a State Championship game was when West Fairmont and North Marion played for it at Laidley Field.
