GAME THREAD Official Game Thread -- WVU vs Kansas State

In...

...because I'm the forum good luck charm.

Williams has digressed almost as much as Skylar Howard did in the middle of the season. Hope he can bounce back soon.

reached the point where we're better when he is on the bench. it's crazy

Myers gave us some nice production those few minutes he was in. I'm still holding onto hope he will eventually be a big time contributor to this team.

Williams is usually money with that little jumper 15 foot out. Would really like to see him use that more if he is getting nothing inside.

Holton having his usual game. Myers is having his breakout game. Hopefully this is the point we all look back on and say this is where he finally turned the corner.

adrian having his best game against decent competition, at least shooting, in years. boy, if he could start hitting shots watchout

DW gets the ball down low and is like a bull in a china closet. He used to be smooth and could deliver. What happened? Don't tell me that he decided to not play team ball. That ain't it.

I don't think the problem is that DW plays for himself. He just doesn't seem to be able to read the game at game speed.

The knock on DW in the not too distant past was that he took too long to either pass the ball or shoot/make a move to the basket. Sometimes he still does that. But it now often seems as if he is trying to overcome the tendency to stand there with the ball in his hands and he tries too quickly to make things happen that are not there.

It's too bad. But either way he is showing a tendency of not being able to quickly read the situation and do the right thing (pass, shoot, move to basket).

After his first turnover last night he goes down the floor on defense and stands in the lane near the basket completely oblivious to the KSU guy who easily scores a layup. Then he goes down and turns the ball over again. His head is not in the game. It's way too wrapped up in his own inability to see what is going on at game speed.

Will he overcome this (his tendency to not read things at game speed)? Or will this continue to be a growing source of frustration that leads to more and more inept play?

Who knows? Time will tell.

Hurdy.............I think you have nailed the problem. DW is 'thinking' game instead of just playing the game. Try hitting a golf ball while thinking about the mechanics. The results won't be pretty.
