-Kansas did what it does at home, win games. Yes, there were opportunities for West Virginia in this game but the Mountaineers failed to capitalize and dropped to 0-3 all-time inside Allen Fieldhouse. The Mountaineers now find themselves in a three-way tie atop the Big 12 Conference with Oklahoma and Kansas, with those two teams set to play each other this weekend in Norman.

-A golden opportunity to lay claim to a major lead in the conference standings but such is life in the Big 12 Conference but if I would have told you West Virginia was without Jonathan Holton and the Mountaineers would split a four game stretch that included trips to Florida, Iowa State and Kansas as well as a home match up with Baylor I think the majority would have been very happy with those results.

-Hard to measure intangibles, but I thought West Virginia did play hard in this game. Shots didn't fall at times but the team never quit in a raucous environment and battled back multiple times. I do think this game more than that this team missed Jonathan Holton.

-West Virginia isn't going to win many games at Kansas when they shoot 37-percent from the floor, is outrebounded 33-28 and allows the Jayhawks to shoot 56-percent from the floor. It just isn't.

-One thing West Virginia excelled at during the first meeting was penetrating and getting to the free throw line hitting 33-47 attempts. Tonight the Mountaineers often settled for jump shots and connected on 16-22 from the charity stripe.

-Thought West Virginia did a much better job in the second half forcing turnovers and getting offensive rebounds. That's the formula for success with the Mountaineers and they were able to get 10 of their 14 total offensive rebounds in the second half as well as forcing nine of the Jayhawks 15 turnovers. In the first meeting West Virginia recorded 15 offensive rebounds and forced 22 turnovers.

-After recording 20 assists on 27 made baskets against Baylor, West Virginia had 9 assists on 22 made baskets against Kansas.

-Senior guard Jaysean Paige had a rare off-night for him as of late hitting only 5-16 shots, for 14 points. You can't play incredible every time out but there were certainly opportunities there for Paige to have had an even bigger night. Still off the bench he once again leads the Mountaineers in scoring.

-As a whole the West Virginia back court shot 13-41 or 31-percent.

-For the fourth time in five games as a starter junior Nathan Adrian reached the eight point mark. He had only done that one time in the first 19 games of the season.

-Junior Devin Williams came close to a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds, but thought he was particularly effective in the first half. Kansas did a better job frustrating him in the second.

-Plus side, the bench again wins the battle of those units outscoring Kansas 31-10.
