I had a call from my friend, Nostradumazz, last night after the WVU/MU basketball game. He was tanked as usual and as always started spouting his fount of knowledge to the world. Here are a few of the more brilliant predictions for 2016.
- Oklahoma beats MSU in the CFP NC Game, giving vindication to the B12 conference. Bowlsby pleased.
- After the Texas A&M loss to Louisville in the Liberty Bowl in December 2015 (Nostradumazz extra pick), caused by A&M having to utilize a 3rd string QB for the game, Kevin Sumlin takes the head coaching job at the Houston Texans after Bill O’Brien is dismissed after one year.
- WVU Coach Dana Holgorsen bolts for the open Texas A&M job, prompting AD Shane Lyons to hire Bo Pelini as the new Mountaineer HC.
- Pelini has stellar recruiting class with no de-commits and also brings in a couple extra players as walk-ons, eventually scholarship players.
- WVU BB team and Coach Bob Huggins open the B12 conference schedule with a victory over Kansas State to go 12-1.
- Coach Pelini retains most of the WVU coaching staff, but brings in Terry Bowden as OC.
- Open Youngstown State and Akron coaching positions are filled by Bob Pruitt and Frank Cignetti, Jr respectively.
- WVU gets to the Championship Game of the B12 BB tournament, but loses to ISU. Team posts a 23-8 regular season record.
- Huggins and WVU get the 4th seed in the Midwest Region in the NCAA tourney. Get to Sweet 16 before being bounced.
- Both WVU Baseball and Golf teams have good seasons and, although no post season participation, start getting national media buzz. Looking good!
- After a tough Spring FB practice David Sills flourishes in the new TB offensive scheme and rises to #1 on the QB depth charts. Chugs & Crest battle for the #2 spot.
- Skyler Howard announces intent to transfer.
- Fall practice solidifies Sills as #1 QB; Crest and Chugs will share 2nd team duties.
- WVU FB team is undefeated going into first conference game with defending NC Oklahoma; having defeated SEC foe Missouri and Independent BYU and former Coach Pelini team Youngstown St. WVU comes up short in a squeaker, but retains top 25 ranking.
- WVU ends FB regular season 10-2 (Oklahoma & Baylor) and gets a NY6 bowl game. Defeats ND in bowl game, avenging 1988 loss. Nehlen pleased!
