I have been wondering for a while how much longer you will see there be a limit on the number of years a “student athlete” can be eligible to play college sports. My guess is it won’t be that much longer that athletes will be limited to 5 years (or whatever it is these days with all the exceptions that exist).
I noticed a lawsuit filed by someone suing related to junior college transfers eligibility rules. I think we are 2-3 years from “student athletes” not having to be enrolled or attend classes and there being no limits on the number of years they can play.
I think we are close to “college branded athletic programs” and no longer college sports as we once knew it. It will make insane amounts of money like the NFL but it won’t be what it was once. In fact, it already isn’t….
