My new Char-Broil Big Easy TRU Infrared Smoker, Roaster and Grill arrived today. Took about 45 minutes to put her together and I'm ready to give it a run tomorrow. While this isn't truly a smoker (don't hate me you fortunate Green Egg users) because it can't get below about 275 it has ridiculously high ratings for turkey, which is obviously what I plan to try this week. Because of work and travel I often don't have enough time to use a traditional smoker and these gas units are supposed to be quick and don't require a lot of babysitting.
In addition to turkey, people use these a lot for ribs, roasts and chickens. Kind of nice that it has a grill surface at the top as well for other items.
I'll probably do a turkey this weekend and try some other things over the next week. I'll report back.
