Neal Brown met with the folks on the ESPNU set at Big 12 Media Days

- They have a big hole to fill with the loss of Zach Frazier on the o-line, but Brown is confident about the talent they return on offense, calling Garrett Greene electric. Brown added they have to innovate the offense now that people know they are going to want to run the ball this season

- Brown says the focus on the run game came from figuring out the league as well as knowing the you need a dual-threat QB in order to win he feels. Calls dual-threat what WVU needs from a recruiting perspective and playing perspective

- Brown was very complimentary of Greene's deep ball as well as his speed from the QB position. He said it was home run or bust from Greene last season and they need him to continue to jump and there is a significant opportunity for him to get better

- Greene's patience was praised with his maturity through sitting on the bench for multiple seasons. He said they wanted to let Greene be who he is with his legs and not try to manage him too much. He also was able to speak to Greene's family about how they knew he needed to develop when he got to WVU

- Brown says the WVU d-line is their strength on that side of the ball, adding he is really excited about the LB depth. Mentioned Trotter, Cutter, Lathan, as three names he thinks people will talk about later on in the season

- On the expansion of the playoff Brown says it means access for the Big 12 and you are giving access to a lot of teams and it increases competition later in the year. He said he thinks two teams at least from the Big 12 should get in and he says the challenge for WVU is going from a nine-win team that was on the cusp and turning into an 11-win team that can get to Dallas

- Brown said the biggest difference in the conference for newcomers is the number of close games. He said over the last three years WVU has played a lot of close games and he knows the teams that are in Dallas are the ones who play best late in close games

- He said the big question of the offseason is how does WVU improve and change preparation in order to be ready for Penn State. He recognizes they will be a really good team and how good of an opportunity it will be for his team and his league. He would then call the Backyard Brawl one of the best rivalries in the sport

- WVU faces Arizona on the road this year and he said not knowing the game time until two weeks out is hard to prepare for. He said sleep and routine are the most important things and when you go over multiple time zones it's important to stay with the same routine and maximize sleep
