After hearing about Trump wanting Greenland I looked up the benefits.
It would be a good get if it can happen peacefully. Do you think the world powers would allow it to happen?
So Greenlanders get the following through their socialized government programs from Denmark. Do you think they will vote to leave? And if they do, will the United States continue these programs? If so, at what cost to the tax payers here?
- Government subsidized daycare
- government funded higher education
- government health care
- psychological health care for 18-24 year olds
- government housing allowances
- subsidized transportation

How would it start a war? If Greenland wants to become a US territory they have a process to do it democraticly.
As a territory they could set up whatever social system they wanted. No need to give up subsidies as long as they can afford them and if they have them now they must be able to afford them.
I was pointing out that the people of Greenland feel colonized by Denmark. It’s actually not that great of a marriage between the two.
I could see Greenland independence, which is probably Trump’s ultimate goal, where we would significantly capitalize on.
When you realize that Chinas main goal is economic dominance and not global war something like a friendly territory such as Greenland and any friends we can have in central and south America is a big deal. A cooperatin Canada would be good too but they are almost speaking Chinese now.

I don't see Greenlanders voting for it. Unless they are uniformed of what they would have to give up in order to become an American territory. Personally, I don't care.
Greenland wants independence from Denmark. If that happens, it will benefit us. Russia doesn’t get a say, China doesn’t get a say. But, Greenland independence very much would negatively impact both of them and their plans.

Just pointing out that being a U.S. territory is not a ticket to prosperity. And the pro-statehood candidate won the PR election again this year, although the incumbent was defeated in the primary . And you are right, political corruption has stifled progress here in PR for decades. If I understand what you are saying in this post correctly you are saying PR is a shithole because of PR people running the place ? Or is it American government in d.c ? I'm truly asking
A large part of it is due to political corruption, with underlying kickbacks and payoffs . Most of which involved investors who were off-island. Debt skyrocketed in the 70's when the government used bond investment money to balance its budget ( I am not a finance guru, but apparently not a solid plan ). Add to that the cycle of devastating natural disasters, i.e. Hurricnae Maria. There is a lot of blame to pass around, and I truely do not know if statehood vs. independence vs. staus-quo is the answer. I am in Puerto Rico right now, awaiting the arrival of my new grandson who is due any day. The people here are truely wonderful, but the economic strain is wearing on their resolve.
