-As I said yesterday I expect some mixing and matching, especially early in the season at the outside wide receiver spots and I feel this is very much indicative of that with Shelton Gibson or Gary Jennings on one side while the other side is Ka'Raun White or Jovon Durante. There has been a lot of hype about the newcomers at wide receiver and if this depth chart is any indication you're going to see them all a lot.

-Yodny Cajuste seemingly came out of nowhere to grab that left tackle position and props to him for holding it down all throughout fall camp when many expected that he would eventually give way and Adam Pankey would be placed back at tackle with Kyle Bosch filling his role at left guard. Says a lot about him that he's been able to hold that spot down at least after camp.

-Coaches have said all throughout camp that they were going to try to redshirt as many freshmen as they could, particularly on defense. Notice there is not one single true freshman listed in the two-deep on that side of the ball. Outside of the two wide receivers, this once again speaks to how Holgorsen has improved the depth in the program and really has it to where freshmen aren't forced to play but only see the field if they truly can contribute in their first season.

-KJ Dillon is listed as the starter at punt return and kick return. I expect Jovon Durante, who's listed second to continue to factor into those roles as the season progresses.

-We mentioned both Shane Commodore and Jon Lewis in our Insider Notes and both are listed on the two deep with Commodore backing up Dravon Askew-Henry, while Lewis is behind Noble Nwachukwu.

-Coaches have said that junior college transfer Larry Jefferson will be used as a situational pass rusher at first and I think his place as third DE on the depth chart signifies that line of thinking. It's good that the Mountaineers have the depth that they feel they won't have to overtax him.

-Interesting that Sean Walters has supplanted Edward Muldrow as the backup to Shaq Petteway at WILL linebacker. I think that only further reinforces the hold that the fifth year senior has on that spot.

-I've tried to slow down the hype train for Donte Thomas-Williams on here based on what the coaches have told us about how they plan to utilize the coaches, but interesting he was listed behind Elijah Wellman.

-Not a surprise to those that have paid attention to our Insider Notes, but Jeremy Tyler is your backup SPUR and quite honestly could be looked at as the backup at all the safety spots.

-Chris Chugunov is listed as your third QB.
