Granted, I'm 500 miles away, but early indications lead me to believe that Marshall will once again be the premier football program in my home state.

In my opinion, WVU needs to step up their recruiting and coaching, if they're to contend with the Herd for in-state accolades.

If one could take what WVU is actually worth on the gridiron and WVU 's impressions of where they fit in the national discussions about football , then convert that gap to money...the pandemic coasts could easily be paid for in cash!

"Once again" be the premier football program in WV???????? When was the first time?

Marshall made a home run hire for their program while WVU pulled a Kraigthorpe by hiring Brown.

A quick Google search reveals 1999, 2001 & 2014, at a minimum.

I suppose you are looking at W-L records but to be fair you must also consider and compare the strength of schedules. There is a reason why Marshall's SOS consistently ranks among the weakest of all FBS schools while WVU's SOS consistently ranks near the top.............but you and the rest of the Herdiots don't want to hear that.

I will sum it up with my nephews words. He attended Marshall 5 years but never attended a single Herd home game - but never failed making the 200 mile drive from Huntington to Morgantown for WVU home games. When I asked him why he didn't go to watch Marshall games his answer was "They don't play anyone worth watching."

Nobody cares about your delusional Old Fold & Blew nephew who took five years to struggle through college, geezer. You shouldn't assume, as you know what that makes you. I Googled when Marshall ended a season ranked, then looked at WVU's rankings (or lack thereof) at the end of the same seasons. Marshall finished higher ranked than WVU in at least three seasons. It took me about two minutes of "research" to shove your words up your ancient a$$. Perhaps, you shouldn't ask questions, if the answers might bother you. I have a dirty little secret for you: Marshall is to WVU what WVU is to Ohio State. #LittleBrother Going by memory, WVU hasn't finished a season higher ranked than Ohio State three times in 22 years. Maybe, once.

For starters my nephew came from humble beginnings and had to work part time jobs to help pay for his education which would explain why it took him 5 years to earn a degree.

Next even as anti-WVU as you are, you would have to admit that WVU has always faced a much tougher schedule than the Blundering Terds have.

Finally, where does Ahia State figure into the conversation about the premier team in WV. Try to stay with the thread topic dumbass.

I obtained my undergraduate degree in three years with a double major and worked two part-time jobs, so what's your point, Paw Paw? I get annoyed when college kids try to convince their parents that it takes five years to obtain an undergraduate degree, as the parents often have to overpay because of their kid's lack of focus and motivation. It's usually because the kids can't handle their sudden freedom, and party too hard. Perhaps, your nephew was different; perhaps, not. WVU's schedules during their two "undefeated seasons" [not really] were pretty weak, and the Big Least was lame after Miami and Va. Tech left, but otherwise, I would agree that WVU played tougher schedules. Of course, the pollsters are aware of this fact, too, but still voted Marshall higher than WVU at least three times, so your point is immaterial. Sorry not sorry that you asked a question, but didn't like the obvious answer.

5 years? Was your nephew a slow learner?

My son double majored, worked and interned, but he took 4 years to do it.

My daughter graduated with two bachelor degrees and was Sigma cum laude. Then received her Masters degree in 3 semesters, again Sigma cum laude. She is planning on getting her doctorate, but will take her time since she is married, bought a house and may expand their family soon.

My youngest told her to hold his beer.

My kids are focused enough.

You are aware that the second unbeaten regular season you speak of in the Big East, Miami, VPI, Syracuse, Boston College and Pitt were all there?

The question I asked was how does Ahia State figure into which football team is the "premier" team in WV, and you conveniently dodged it. It just boggles your mind that no one but you and Michigan Terd here on a WVU board no one gives a rats ass about Ahia State.

Keep us posted on that

Have you missed all the threads started on this forum in regard to Ohio State? A quick search can bring up dozens of threads, although 100% of them are started by your little twin, Sled.

So much respect for OSU in Herd Nation, a program with National Championships in both revenue sports, Heisman Trophy winners, Naismith award winners...we would be happy to play the Bucks in either sport in Columbus without a return game or you boys in Ann Arbor for that matter. But can't cut that deal for programs that have never won anything of note!

Marshall doesn't need WVU. So why keep pushing it? MU is so big time in everything, why come over here and nagging us about not playing?

Tony, since your catch phrase is that WVU has never won anything of note, tell me what Marshall has done "of note" since moving up to the FBS level. I will be here waiting for your reply on all of their accomplishments compared to WVU's. And while you're at it, tell us about how many times the Herd beat a P-5 football team that finished the season with a winning record.

The Herd actually has had an unbeaten season, whereas, WVU has only had an unbeaten 'regular' season, and I've seen the tee-shirts and coffee mugs to back that up.

Walmart & WVU merchandise. A match made in almost heaven.

Because you boys offer such disingenuous excuses for not playing the fun is too compelling to resist.

We too have never won anything of note...kind of puts us in the same boat!

The unanswered question in this thread is how many P-5 football teams that finished the season with a winning record has Marshall ever beaten. Without looking it up I can only think of one time that ever happened.

How many P-5 football teams with winning records has Marshall beaten while standing on one foot and whistling Dixie? Win something of note and I direct that at both of us and we'll continue the chat!

Aw Tony, don't be embarrassed by my question about how many wins Marshall has over P-5's that finished the year with a winning record. Do a little research on that and you will see that Marshall is indeed a little fish in a big pond.

I didn't criticize the four-year college student now, did I? It's the five-year+ party animal that costs parents unnecessarily. As for your daughter, I doubt that she was "Sigma" cum laude, but I graduated summa cum laude, so perhaps, you meant "summa" instead. You'll know for sure, if you look at her diploma, and the words, "summa cum laude" appear on the front it. I offered to show you my diplomas, only one of which contains these magical three words, but you know... Regarding the strength of WVU's schedules, you misunderstood my prior post. I stated that WVU 's schedules were usually tougher than Marshall's, but its schedules weren't tough during the mythical "undefeated" seasons of 1988 and 1993, as well as after the Big Least powers had left. Miami was down in 1993, as Wikipedia notes: "In 1993, the Hurricanes lost three games in a season for the first time since 1984, failed to win the Big East for the first time since joining in 1991, and was shut out in the Fiesta Bowl by Arizona, still the worst loss Miami has ever suffered in a bowl game."

Not embarrassing .....just irrelevant!

But, but, but...........what about your "something of note" narrative? Kind of inconvenient for you when someone asks what has Marshall done "of note" since moving to the FBS level, huh?

Don’t forget that Marshall produced 2 very good first-round QBs and a HOF WR. Meanwhile, WVU has been struggling to put talent in the NFL and the first round picks that have been from WVU have been complete busts. The most successful player WVU has put in the draft quit the NFL to do podcasting and was a GOAT Rodriguez recruit.

I always thought that the quarterback that won the Super bowl and defensive player that won the MVP in the Super bowl would of been considered more successful.

We were comparing history since Marshall moved to FBS. I may have read it completely wrong in the first place.

At least you displayed some wit...which indicates to me you boys don't even believe your own excuses as to why we don't play anymore!
I will admit it's fun watching Marshall fans saw we 'don't need you' but then acting like a crazy obsessed girlfriend you broke up with wanting you back.

Let the Herd and WVU trade schedules. IMO.

One guy has never been a head coach. So you give him blow jobs. The other guy has 2 years at WVU with the second year being government/covid. Did you know Rod Fraud was 12-12 in his first 2 years and lost his first bowl game. Brown is 11-11 and won his first bowl game.

I'll take a wait see on what he does this year and the rest of his contract. You can go to Herd games and watch a new guy that has been given a great start with loaded team in a weak ass conference try to become a HC. If that said mini U guy is successful like you think he will be then he's gone after 2nd season to a better school.

Now go twirl your tongue some more on that herd meat.
