Heh heh......BG with 690+ yards of total offense, and they score 42 points in the 2H (plus, they finished the game on the MD 6 yard line). Should be fun watching them next Saturday versus Memphis on Parents Weekend.

Wonder how Edsall is going to explain away that sterling performance.....

I take it (one?) of your pride and joy attends BG COOLMAN?...Hell of a hockey program up there over the years! And a pretty good football one too...a gent here in town actually played hockey at Bowling Green...

My daughter is a Senior this year, and we enjoy heading up I-75 each year for Parents Weekend.....we saw a fabulously exciting game last year as BG scored late in the game to beat Indiana 45-42.

BG, under 2nd year HC Dino Babers, will attempt to outscore everyone they play since they have an excellent QB and skill. It's kind of an interesting philosophical turnaround, since under previous HC Dave Clawson (now at Wake Forest) they were far more renown for defense. But, by most standards, they're consistently one of the better Programs in the MAC; and of course is Don Nehlen's alma mater..

The school obviously does have a history in hockey, and the Program finally seems to be turning the corner the past couple years (under HC Chris Bergeron) after being down for more than a decade. They've had a couple Hobey Baker winners.....top US college player, if you aren't familiar with the award.....and it's the alma mater of the great Rob Blake and 1980 US Olympian (and NY Islander D-man) Kenny Morrow......as well as our old pal, Disco Dan Bylsma.

Oh, and my son is a Senior at the University of Cincinnati.....so we're an all-Ohio family from a collegiate standpoint.

Wow...amazing. You must be proud with 2 attending such quality institutions....

On Cinci....have you been to Nippert since the recent reno's , and if so what do you think? When watching on tv over the years it really looked like an intimate 'in the action' type stadium....and it's always cool to have a skyline city view while at the game imo...

Blake I completely forgot attended BG by the way...and I did not know Morrow was an alum...

Also do me a favour and keep that Buc's Avatar up for awhile...don't want to jinx them! I would look forward to your Buc's vs my Jays for the big series! This city is going bananas right now...couldn't get a ticket if you tried. Reminds everyone of the early 90's here...is it same in the Burgh I would imagine? Them Cards seem to be fading fast....and at just the right time!

These two wacky links show before (the first) and after photos of UC's now-renovated NIppert Stadium which just re-opened for business last weekend. FYI, any photos of UC football you've seen which show the city skyline were taken when the Bearcats were playing home games at Paul Brown Stadium (home of the Cincinnati Bengals). Nippert was closed during the 2014 season while the Nippert renovation was in progress.

Nippert is one of the oldest stadiums still in use in college football.....something like 4th oldest, if I'm not mistaken.....and had its last major renovation (including the press box shown in the first photo) back in the early 90's. The new renovation.....costing upward of $90 million.....added the extremely impressive new structure on the stadium's west side, as well as significant (and badly needed) improvements to the stadium's basic pedestrian access and concourse areas. The updated facility now has an "official" capacity of 40,000 (though I don't think anyone outside the ticket office knows the exact number of sellable seats)

The stadium is right dead center in the middle of campus, making it wonderfully accessible to the resident students; though parking, as is typically the case with urban campuses, is a challenge. But it's a very intimate setting, and therefore a great place to watch a game; that is, if you're not sitting in the first 10 or so rows, which are so low (and the sight lines so flat) that you can't see over the players standing on the sidelines. I myself don't know why the architects didn't address this issue as part of the renovation, which originally resulted from the lowering of the field in 1936.

I'll stick with the Pirates avatar while they're still alive. I've been hearing that the Jays have become a local phenomenon this season; still kills me that damn former Buc Jose Bautista keeps putting up his annual imitation of Henry Aaron. However, I'd much rather see the Jays win than essentially anyone else in that division. Plus, I'm pulling for Russell Martin; a player for whom pretty much every Pirates fan in the universe has a soft spot.
