The ranking is the Mountaineers’ (10-1, 1-0) highest ever in any poll. The team’s previous program-best ranking was No. 4, first earned in the Soccer Buzz Poll on Nov. 4, 2002, and again in the last two TDS.com polls.

Texas Tech (7-1-3, 0-0-1) is the only other Big 12 team ranked and checks in at No. 18.

North Carolina (10-0-1, 3-0 ACC) and Florida State (9-1-1, 2-0-1 ACC) moved up one spot to No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. BYU (8-1-1) continues to follow WVU and is up one spot to No. 4, and Virginia Tech (10-1-1, 2-1 ACC), the only team to score on WVU this season, jumped up seven spots to No. 5.

The win pushed the team’s home conference unbeaten streak to 27. WVU shows a nine-match shutout streak and owns an NCAA-best 10 clean sheets on the season.

WVU closes out its five-match homestand against TCU on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. It’s a “Pink Match” for breast cancer awareness, and all fans are encouraged to wear pink. Additionally, the match also is the team’s “Soctoberfest” celebration, and specialty German food and beverage options will be available at the concession stands.
