Mountaineers back in the top 10 in Coaches Poll

In... ...before somebody posts that it doesn't matter.

Dana H deserves a little respect for the job he's doing but I don't think Lyons and the big money donors that pull his puppet strings like him.......

Bullshit. I seriously doubt big money donors and Lyons told you, or anybody that matters they don't "like him". That's just another useless rumor/lie spread by people with an agenda. Worthless BS.

I don't have ties to the big donors or Shane Lyons, I never said I did...........just stating my opinion, nothing more.

Actually you stated that you don't think.[laughing]

Let me re-phrase my previous comment for you. I think that the people controlling the purse strings and are in control of Lyons want Dana gone and that's why his contract hasn't been extended. Of course it's just my opinion as I'm sitting on the outside looking in..........

As another "old buzzard," I think, respectfully, sir, that you have it wrong.
Lyons put Dana in a "show me" mode, as he should, being the new athletic director. 11-1 and Big 12 champ and I guarantee you that Dana will be offered a new contract that will move him to #3 in pay among Big 12 coaches. Just me opinion, just like yours. We're both entitled to it.

7-5 won't do it, of course. But with Iowa State left, 8-4 or better seems more likely. If Baylor continues its implosion, that's 9-3. Beat the hot and cold Texas team and that's 10-2. Somehow get past the darling of the CFP committee, Oklahoma, and that's 11-1.

The keys will be to stay supercharged, stay focused, stay disciplined and stay healthy. Those are 4 s's that are difficult to achieve for any team.

Hell, Brother Saban's Alabama team went more than 3 quarters without scoring and only won because of its Superman Defense that has scored more TDs than running backs or receivers on many other teams.

The only 4 unbeaten Power 5 teams are in the top 4 of the writers (AP) and coaches polls, which seems fair to me. We’ll see if the College Football Playoff committee agrees Tuesday night.

Actually, both polls have the same 11 teams at the top, although in different orders.

Alabama is #1 in both, of course.

Michigan is #2 and #3.

Clemson is #3 and #2.

Washington is #4 in both.

Oklahoma is #9 in both.

West Virginia is #11 and #10, switching places with Texas A&M.

The writers and coaches are in a position of trying to make their rankings match the CFP rankings that come out on Tuesdays, lest they look silly.

I know. These ranks don’t matter once the CFP rankings come out.

WVU has one thing going for it. It is the ONLY Big 12 team with ONE loss this season. Not even Oklahoma can make that claim, yet the Sooners are ranked 1 and 2 rungs above the Mountaineers.

If WVU wins at Texas on Saturday and Oklahoma survives imploding Baylor, then the WVU-Sooner argument will be settled on Mountaineer Field Nov. 19 when the crowd will be wearing blue.

Hopefully, Oklahoma will be feeling blue when the final score is posted on the huge Mountaineer Field scoreboard.

Just because you think that's the case doesn't mean it is reality. Shane knows the fanbase in general, not just the big donors, are tired of near-.500 seasons. However, Shane did try to extend Dana, but there wasn't an agreement. Maybe the deal was so egregious to Dana that it was taken as a "you get your walking papers if you don't turn it around" statement, or Dana didn't get the years he wanted in the extension, which is the likely reason he didn't take the extension. The fact is, an extension was offered, so if we are going to make assumptions based on that, it's just as safe to assume the donors wouldn't be standing for an extension at all if they really wanted Dana gone.

The last thing I want to do is get into a pissing match with a fellow Mountaineer fan...........but I still believe that the big money behind our program wants Dana out. And as I've said before, I'm not an insider so it's just my humble opinion. For whatever it's worth I hope Dana gets to stick around for a while.......

So the big money donors don't want a top 10 team? Especially considering this far more impressive than any top 10 team WVU had in the diluted Big East. They must not want to see the program continue its progress.

Wonder how many of those big britches donors thought WVU would be 7-1 and ranked in the top 10 in November?

Personally I think you are completely bat shit crazy.
