Does anyone know the story behind this less than inspiring name ??
I think we've all become accustomed to having the last (and possibly first) name of some money-bags donor attached to pretty much any and all new facilities these days.....though, come to think of it, I don't believe one currently exists on the front wall of the "Basketball Practice Facility" either. Of course, that requires one of those types to step up here.....or at the BPF.....with a contribution of some specific amount; which means none have done so (at least thus far). Maybe the University is waiting for Taylor Munden to sign his first multi-million contract before that happens to MCB.
Anyway, who then decided MCB was a good identity ?? I guess the upcoming.....and I assume this is still in the works.....minor league team playing there provides some basic credence to the name. However, since WVU will (presumably) remain the prime tenant, I guess I'd have assumed those letters would be attached in at least some manner. I guess I'm just not bananas about the fact that nobody outside the State (with the possible exception of Greene County PA) will have any idea what team plays there.
OTOH, perhaps Mon County has donated their way to the ballpark's naming rights; and bully for them if that's the case. I guess I'm just not sure if I've ever heard of a municipality do something like this.
