They should have added them instead of Houston, imo. But Memphis doesn't give you as much as Houston. Perhaps if they go 14 Memphis will be looked at.
But they got the 4 best available teams as you can see 2 of them are top 15. Big 12 will stay at 12. Houston will finally improve to 7-5 this year and Holgs will be applying for bigger jobs again. The year 2025 should concern everyone more than adding anymore teams. You just don't know what kind of money you'll be getting after that.
Houston gives them a fighting chance because it is a public school and in a city that has a Houston vs The World mentality

Memphis would be a good addition but the league needs to pause. Why? It has been reported that the B1G is targeting Oregon, USC, Washington, and UCLA for expansion. If that happens there will probably be another angry 8. Perhaps, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah and Colorado State will want to join the BIG 12. For this reason, it is probably best to slow down and let things play out.
