Mazey announced 2017 baseball recruiting class earlier

Seems to be pretty high quality though.

Connor Hamilton - #1 rated high school catcher in state of New York.

Tristen Hudson - #1 rated high school short stop in South Carolina and ranked #11 overall in South Carolina

Will Liverpool - #6 high school RHP and #17 in Virginia

Jackson Wolf - #5 high school LHP and #20 in Ohio.

Tyler Doanes - versatile utility guy who can play multiple positions, 2 time all-state in Georgia

Sam Fuller - #3 high school RHP and #44 overall in Georgia

Christian Young- JUCO RHP from New York, he's the guy who Mazey thinks could be pretty special

Will Reed - JUCO, #12 RHP and #40 overall in Virginia.

Seems like the new facilities are paying off. Has been bringing in lots of good talent past few years, has definitely built depth. Night and day difference than when Van Zant was coach here

I remember a few people on here giving a few of us hell who wanted Van Zant gone. I'm thankful for the foundation that Van Zant left and I am extremely thankful and blessed that Mazey has built a formidable foe in the Big 12 & nationally from the foundation left behind and he is continuing to build WVU baseball up to a place where we all always wanted it to be but never expected it.

Hopefully we can keep him for many years to come and his recruiting class looks awesome considering what he's working with and the geography.

Indeed. Baseball had been such a forgotten sport at WVU yet regionally we were rich in talent to have a good squad. Part of it was conference (when Notre Dame, Louisville and St. John's are the only ones who take it seriously, it tends to be a struggle). Part of it was apathy (at least until Pat White called Van Bunts a racist). Part of it was penny pinching in the AD.

I'm happy where the baseball program is now because even though we've been snubbed from the postseason time and again under Mazey, we are at least in the conversation. That is more than I or anyone else expected without a long, long rebuild. I hope we keep Mazey but we've got to start getting to the postseason or he may bail to a stronger program that will be easier to hit the postseason.

Mazey is hitting the JUCO route a lot heavier than Van Bunts did. I think anyway. We've had a lot of success from that pool of recruits. We upgraded from a sandlot to a minor league stadium, so of course it should be paying dividends.
