... why when you are up 2, you don't take away the 3 by default. That's not to say that's not what Bob wanted, but in the waning seconds a short jumper on the run in the paint or a contested layup is often tougher than an uncontested 3 ... especially when that 3 beats you.

I'll never understand why you allow anything more than a tie and heading into another extra stanza. You hold the advantage by knowing the worst you're likely looking at is a tie and more basketball to be played.
