-Head coach Bob Huggins said he has to worry about winning when asked about the future of the Capital Classic series.
-Huggins said Teyvon Myers continues to improve but he put himself in a position to be behind. On Esa Ahmad he has to learn that he is not bigger, stronger and faster than everybody else and Huggins wants to get more offense out of him. But he has to not turn the ball over.
-Huggins believes his team tired out Marshall some in the second half because of how hard it is to get the ball in and up the floor.
-Devin Williams said that West Virginia knew coming into the game that the Mountaineers had a significant advantage in the paint so the plan coming into the game was to exploit that. They didn't do that in the first half but did a much better job exploiting that in the second.
-Overall, Williams thought the other biggest difference in the second half was the overall energy put of the Mountaineers.
-Elijah Macon said that his pointing to the sky after free throws is in honor of his mom.
-Macon said he wanted to come into the game with energy and it paid off as Bob Huggins said it was his best game that he has played to date. Macon said he has really focused on improving his offensive game and letting things slow down.
-Macon said he doesn't believe that the offense changes too much when he is in the game over Williams depending on the matchups.
-Macon spent a year at Huntington Prep and obviously he got a lot of ribbing from Marshall fans during that year so needless to say it was easy for him to find energy on this game. He spent a lot of time in the rec center there and was basically in the heart of the campus.
-Tarik Phillip said that the physical transformation that Macon has gone under is the biggest change in his game. He brings a different dimension to the offense as he can face up and play back to the basket. And he is a little more athletic than some of the other bigs.
-Phillip also said that cutting down the the turnovers has to be a major focus for this team moving forward because right now they are not taking care of the basketball. He thinks it's because the offense has a hard time settling down after playing so frantically on defense.
-Phillip thinks he is doing a better job handling the point guard role and now understands that Huggins could insert him into the game at any time to create pace of play and use that to West Virginia's advantage.
-Jevon Carter said he has no idea why he continues to do so well at the Civic Center but he'll gladly take the MVP honors. He's also feeling a little more confident in the point guard role and is feeling more assertive when he wants to score.
-Several players said that Esa Ahmad just has to slow things down and let the game come to him. To do that he needs to square up and survey what's around him before he decides to make a move or pass.
