Their record speaks for itself. 4-9 out of conference and 5-0 within a very weak CUSA. Only 5 of the 14 teams in CUSA currently have a winning overall record. In contrast the Big 12 has 10 of 10 teams with an overall winning record. Playing EKU in Morgantown vs. playing MU in Charleston is a no brainer.
We were never playing Eastern Kentucky on an annual basis on a neutral court and splitting the gate. So yeah, we're sure.
ha.. we play the likes of eastern kentucky every year. i'd rather play marshall - way more exciting than the directional kentuckys and better for our rpi. so many other flagship universities play their little brothers on a neutral court.

And EKU has been an RPI 100 program for a decade. They lost their coach this summer and are recovering this season. They will be back in the top 100 again next year

No hate to it. I don't mind playing them every few years. As a practical matter, we don't need them on the schedule every year, in that venue.
neutral court. mich state only gets 50% of the revenue when they play oakland in palace every year.
imho, we're coming off a little greedy here
I know Marshall grads typically end up on welfare... ...so maybe WVU shouldn't encourage them by giving their school a charity game.

Michigan State plays that game in Detroit because nearly half their roster is from near that area and Detroit is a big recruiting ground

You are right. I was trying to give him a tiny bit of credit for coming up with one example that almost backs up his argument. Being to nice gets me in trouble sometimes. I guess this is a good example.
Funny thing is. I'm sure if Huggins and WVU actually thought this game was beneficial to the program and the state of West Virginia they would be playing it. They obviously don't so I will go ahead and trust in them to make the right decision.

- not a 50/50 split..... Seeing as how the contract requires a MSU home game every other year
- Oakland and MSU have a history of hiring each other's former players for coaching jobs
- Oakland is a far better basketball program, annually, than Marshall
