man those refs were bad

  1. Couldn't believe they were B1G officials. Gotta feel for that conference cause they were as bad or worse than anything we saw this year.

Im shocked not more people are talking about just how bad the were.

I know they announced they were B1G Ten officials but I have never seen that crew before and I watch almost every B1G ten game.

Worst officials I have ever seen. And WVU won so it has nothing to do with that. I would love to see those guys personally so I could get an explanation on 1. No pass interference 2. Leading with helmet on Howard hit 3. Whatever the hell that ASU backup QB was doing and 15 yarder on Barber and not on the QB for basically running right into official. Those guys deserve a good ass kicking

Sometimes I think that's one of the biggest benefits of being at a game in person...less awareness of whether it's being officiated poorly.

We didn't really have much feel for that in the stadium last night, with a few exceptions. Frequently you can see shaky calls better on TV.

I think the leading with the helmet still needs to be addressed. Can the pac 12 take action?

I was surprised that a B1G team of officials was so bad. I thought that when we won the Orange Bowl that is was one of the best officiated games I had seen.

I don't think those officials in the Orange Bowl could process all that was happening!

I always look at officials as part of the game like the yardlines and goalposts. I know their calls affect the game, particularly one as physical as this one. My biggest consternation was that 3 of the 4 critical reviewed plays went against WVU. The pass interference in the end zone and the spearing of Skylar were the most egregious. Usually, the refs screw up equally for both sides, and it IS difficult to see all the activities with 22 guys whacking on each other, or in basketball with 10 guys and WVU pressing from the in-bounds pass to the rest of the court. I'll give them that.

And, again, the players and coaches probably made more mistakes than the refs. Particularly Todd Graham, who did NOT go for 2 points instead of 1 after the Sun Devils' final TD. Even a failure would have been 5 points instead of 6, just as good for his team, but 2 points would have meant overtime when WVU scored and kicked the point.

I bitched on the official game thread. Not much point in beating yet another dead horse. But It was dreadful officiating.

I thought it was bad in the basketball game yesterday but last nights game was just just as bad.

That we won is part of it. I'm not a blind homer but more of the bad calls went against us. I think the time of the game and its relative unimportance is part of the reason there is so little talk too. Not many people other than the fans of the teams we're probably watching.

Worse than the refs was the replay review guy. Missing a call in real time is going to happen (it shouldn't happen that much though) but screwing up the reviews at least 3 times is not acceptable. That guy should be fired.

My questions exactly. Esp the interference call in the endzone where they decided to pick up the flag. I mean, come on. I think they need to give each coach a challenge or two and make more things challengable (made that up)

I would especially like to know what the flag at the end of the game was thrown for, other than someone thinking that his "bonus" would be going away...

Leading up to the game the AZRepublic ran one story on WVU.
