Lyons interview with Hoppy. Lyons called out Gee

They all need to go because this whole entire thing is amature and stupid. Rob Alsop should be nowhere near the program. Gee is just a goofy old man. But the fact remains, both Brown and Lyons had to go as well. There is no excuse for the insane buyout they gave Neal Brown and anyone involved in it should be gone, and so should Neal. This is fkn pathetic.

And Lyons says he would keep Brown a 5th year because he checks all the boxes.... except one of course. The only one that actually matters, of course. Lyons is a moron and so are the rest of them. Alsop is just a politician. His degree is even political science I do believe. Get that dude out of there.

What Lyons is leaving out is that the fact that HE thought it to be a good idea to sign Brown to the extension when there wasn't anything to show that he was going to be so "great" that SEC schools or ACC schools would pluck him from WVU. It's easy to point the finger at Gee and refer to it as an "ambush", but the fact remains:

There would not have been an "ambush" on Lyons if he'd had the capability to understand you don't sign a .500 coach in his 2nd year to an extension.

You do realize WVU did the same exact thing with Rodriguez after his first year at WVU at 3-8? They extended him. Same reasons. It’s not unheard of. It’s a gamble.

His extension was peanuts compared to browns. I think it was hilarious, and even thought it was hilarious at the time, that we gave him an extension because Auburn and possibly South Carolina wanted Brown. So if we get a new head coach, and he has a good agent, and this guy actually wins, all the agent needs to do is to flood Twitter with rumors and the coach gets more money.

Another golden nugget from Lyons interview with Hoppy:
“You make a coaching change, you’re taking 3 years backward steps. You’re not moving forward. "

Tell that to TCU and Kansas, jackass. This isnt 1985. Fk this guy. Im not taking up for Gee and Asslop because they are doofuses too, but they did hire Shane to be the "Athletic Director" which means hes the guy they trust to make the right decisions. Shane approached them with this insane extension with Brown and they signed off on it based on his position as AD. Now its their fault for listening to Shane and doing what he asked. Fk him.

And come-on. 3 years backwards steps? Good grief he spent way too much time in Alabama. Dang, dis dog wone hunt....

What Shane is also forgetting, and this Blame goes for everyone involved, you could walk in 1 hour before kickoff on Thursday night against Baylor and buy any ticket you wanted. The tailgating was soft and the attendance was abysmal.

And it only got worse from there

It was dumb. I agree. Giving a HC an extension because you fear South Carolina and Auburn will take your HC for winning 5 games a year is not smart. It’s also crazy to believe a school like Auburn would want a 5 win a year HC at WVU.

Exactly. KSU, TCU and KU are all benefitting quickly from new coaching hires. Shane Lyons was the wrong stuff. Although I love what he did with facilities, he obviously doesnt want to get with the times when it comes to modern college football. We cant keep moving at a snails pace while other schools are flying circles around us.

He's also being disingenuously naive.

Justifying the extension because Auburn or South Carolina showed interest in Brown is absurd. The coaches agents drum that fake interest up for this very use - negotiate better deals for their client.

If Lyons had any brains he'd know that Auburn wasn't hiring a 6-7 coach in year 2 from WVU.

Pastilong gave Stewart an extension after his 1-2 start in season 1.
WVU has a history of doing stupid crap ever since Rich Rod left. Stew was an over-emotional hire after Rich broke everyone's heart followed by a bowl win. To go from the lowly low of the Pitt loss followed by Rich leaving, and then the extreme highs after WVU kicked ass in a bowl game. It was bipolar. Stew, great man for sure, but never ever should've been the HC. We've never really recovered from all that because both Dana and Brown were duds. Until we hit on a good HC, we will be a 5-7 win team. Dana was better than Brown though.

We should have done what Ohio State did after Tressel. If they wanted to give Stew a chance then make him the interim to see how it went. It was pretty clear after the Colorado game that he wasn't the guy that would keep the ball rolling. We also would have had plenty of time to conduct a proper coaching search

I agreed with Voorhees. Goes to show that even a blind squirrel will eventually find a nut.

Time to clean house from top of the bow tie on down.
That would be great. I'd love to see some new blood in the WVU media too. Hoppy and the gang are stale and old and pretty complacent. Watching these guys make excuses for the inexcusable is getting old. I stopped listening to 3 guys before the game" almost 2 years ago. Tried to stomach an episode last night. Couldnt make it very far through it without dozing off. The culture change WVU really needs starts there imo

So, if they (media) don't agree with your feelings, you think they are stale and should be replaced. Not defending them, but that seems a little self-serving if you ask me. Kind of like how an AD gives an extension to a coach that didn't do anything.

Sure why not? They are just there for entertainment. We don't have any obligation to support them.
