Recruiting is not an exact science and just because a kid is a 2 or 3 star doesn't mean they are not capable of becoming elite players. You honestly think people can accurately evaluate every single high school senior?

This years class was about average for us. Rivals ranked us 39th the 4 previous classes where ranked 33,45,25,48 which averages out to 37.7

Who in the heck is saying that this class is no good? Over 99% of all WV fans agree that this class is going to be very good. Of course, time will tell with regard to wins and losses but dadgummit...............let's get behind these kids and stay behind them.

I don't know who is saying its no good. It doesn't look great on paper, but like you illustrated it doesn't mean the players cannot become great contributors. I care about what those recruits do for WVU on the field and not what they did in high school. But seems to be a lot of talk about recruiting as being the ultimate driving force in competitive teams. While important, coaching means just as much. A good coach can take this 39th ranked class and compete with 4 teams that have a top 25 class (Snyder at KSU, Urban Meyer while at Utah). A piss poor coach can take a few top 10 ranked classes and run a program into the crapper (Coker and Shannon @ Miami).

Anyone who thinks that coaching is not at least as important as "recruiting ranks" has an agenda or is mental. Just look at the WVU basketball team this year. Where did the last few recruiting classes rank? Sure they have had some stinkers out there, but they are competing with way higher "ranked" recruiting classes more often than not. Is it magic? Or is it coach Huggins getting the most out of his players and molding them to play in a system that seems to have success. Like I said however, most folks who say otherwise are just looking to push the agenda of "recruiting class is not as good as other Big XII teams therefore WVU should not expect to compete with or beat those teams ... no matter who the coach is" Well if coaching is that irrelevant, fire Dana and hire some jagoff for 400K a year. Don't tell me that a coach can hurt the program, but is powerless to help the program when recruiting rankings is the true ultimate driving force.
