Looking at realtime rip.com, we have 14 of our last 16 games versus top 50 teams. That has to be the toughest remaining schedule. They project our regular season record at 23-8. I'm sure most of us are thinking we are doing to do much better. However, maybe we need to reign in our expectations a little. Saturday's game will give us better idea of what we have. I want to win this one soooo bad. Potentially we could be ranked 1 next week.

Rankings are nice, especially the one after the last game of March Madness. I'd love to see a BIG12 Championship for starters. Got to win some road games. Liking the guards a lot, depth at the big men, and the relentless defense. Good things could happen.

22-23 wins would've been my guess vs that schedule. Could be surpassed & there is no reason to not go for the gold. Either way will be a quality resume for NCAAs.

There's many potential speed bumps forthcoming, but equally many opportunities to earn a favorable seed. They're going to catch some more teams in the Coliseum & flat out wear them out.

This team is going to be tough in March because of press match-up with quick turnaround games, superior guards & depth. Add in they are better offensively than before & are experienced in March Madness.

The newfound willingness & ability to get to the foul line to counteract all their own fouls & to overcome sometimes lowish FG percentages is terrific.

The second half of the conference schedule will get tough because coaches will have first hand experience facing the pressure. Some will adjust and overcome. But when the show gets here it is going to be very tough for a team facing WVU to overcome the depth and relentless effort. A couple breaks along the way and regardless of where the Mountaineers end in the conference, they will be a very tough, tough, out in the tournament.

I see this team finishing the season with no more than 4 losses. I do not project WV to win the Big 12 tournament but.................project them into the Sweet 16 and maybe more.

Agreed. Winning the BXII tournament, depending on your draw, could be more difficult than winning or at least making a memorable run in the NCAA tournament. Obviously you'd want them to peak in the NCAAs rather than in Kansas City; see I-State last year.

I love watching this team. They truly are a team where the sum is greater than the individual parts.

They've bought in again just like last year. Have continued success after losing Gary & Juwan, which isn't easy.

I like the prospectus on the future with the recruits and returners, but believe this year is the year to really compete for a deep NCAA run. No one is unbeatable for WVU & they're going to certainly miss Paige & Holton. Hopefully no more than that to replace.

No more than 4 losses... ...and winning the Big 12 tourney harder than The Dance ?

Kids and the aroma of industrial glue don't go well together.

Why is it so hard to understand that in the Big 12 tournament it is very likely we'll have to beat either number 1 Kansas or Number 2 Oklahoma if not both, in order to win the conference tournament, while in the ncaa tournament we may not have to face either of them to make the final 4?

What is so hard to understand... ...people made posts like yours last season...

....and then we got out-scored by Kentucky by a 2/1 ratio. ...and that wasn't in the Big 12 tourney.

A beating like that didn't happen during our loss in the Big 12 tourney.

Took just 2 days being back here for the personal attacks to pick up. What makes you presume I am a kid?

I don't recall WV winning one Big XII tournament game yet.

For any conference team to have to go through the likes of Baylor, I-State, West Virginia, Oklahoma and/or Kansas could easily be more difficult than advancing in the NCAA tournament. I believe it was Baylor who beat WVU three times last year. Handily. Texas I think did the same the year before & kept us out of the Dance all together.

Kentucky's historic team notwithstanding, I'd take my chances with the likes of Buffalo and Maryland ahead of the aforementioned BXII teams.

this team is fun to watch and has a lot of potential. one of our biggest strengths is depth, and i hope and hope and hope above all else that we don't start getting players injured.

In the NCAA's you have at least one to five days between games.

In the B12 tourney you are going against tough to very good teams 3 or 4 days in a row if you make it to the championship game.

Given the caliber of competition in the B12 it is easy to assert that the league tourney could be more difficult than the Big Dance.

Could our guys give it their all on the court 3-4 days in a row in the league tourney? That would be tough.

Orlaco truly does 'get it' with regard to the Big 12 tourney. It's just that some folks want to get their point across...........even if it makes no rhyme or reason.

I hope that the NCAA March Madness has WVU, Kansas, Oklahoma and Baylor in different quadrants. That would make an all-Big 12 Final Four possible. Wouldn't that be something?

Winning the Big 12 may be tougher than winning the national title.

For now, I just want WVU to do to Oklahoma what it did to Kansas.

What I love about this team is that you can't beat it by stopping one guy. They come at you from 10 different directions. They are aggressive and passionate, and sometimes even smart when Huggins glares at them, about forcing turnovers, getting rebounds and wearing out the other side so badly that nearly every team has a free throw percentage worse than its season average because they can't see the basket with no one guarding them from 15 feet away.

Huggins' best coaching job so far, at WVU. Let's hope this runaway train keeps demolishing the fancypants superstars and teams.

A 23-8 team isn't going to be ranked #1.

win today and we will very likely be #1 Monday. that's just the way it works when you beat 1 and 2 - and nearly everybody ahead of you loses.

it's mean little. but it will be nice, nonetheless. no need for you to rain on the parade

My prediction: With a win we move up to about 5 or 6. With a loss we remain where we are.

We have a good/great team... ... But I'll bet any single poster any amount of cash that we end the season with more than four losses.

I don't have a clue. I just know that there is NO team in America that WVU can't beat. They may not do it, like Oklahoma, but it was two missed free throws from going in the W category. 2 more free throws changes everything and WVU wins.

Let's just enjoy the ride. We all know the regular season is just a tuneup for March Madness. It would be great to win the Big 12 along the way (WVU is in first place). But the Big Kahuna is winning 6 straight games in March.

With Huggins cracking the whip on 10 pit bulls, there's NO team in America that wants to face WVU with one day to get ready, as happens every other game in March Madness.

We have 7 road games left. 6 of them are against teams currently above 30 in the RPI. 5 of our 7 home games are also against teams in the top 30 RPI. 3-4 on the road and 6-1 at home would be a very strong finish considering.

If we finished 24-7 (12-6). We might well still be in the top 10 and a 2-3 seed.

Double round robin is nuts.

Then you'll draw at least one of these teams a 3rd time in Kan City.

A winning league record is doing something. 12-6 would be grand.

No more than 5 losses. Every loss will motivate this team even more. In 2010 I thought "damn WVU might be good enough to win it all" in 2015-16 I'm saying "WVU is good enough to win it all"

These next 3 conference games--all eminently winnable--look like the key to the rest of the season.

If this squad takes care of business in those, then it seems to me an 18-2 (7-1) team has a very good chance to challenge for some special things in both the conference race and March Madness.

12-6 would be GREAT and give us an excellent seed. Preseason I had us at 21-10 (10-8)
and thus far we are only 1 game better than what I predicted (Kansas).

With Ridley out and us playing well, I now think we will beat Texas at home and move 2 games up on my prediction, but I had us winning the other 2 of those games. (I also like our chances at UF better now but that will still be a very tough game on the road).

Getting to 18-2 (7-1) would be fantastic. Then beating UF and improving to 19-2 would probably get us to #4 at least at that point.

That said, those last 10 games include 5 extremely tough road games and only 2 home games against teams over which we will likely be substantial favorites.
