WVU has beaten 4 Big 12 teams with a combined conference record of 8-16.

Ahead are 4 Big 12 teams with a combined conference record of 12-11. Forget 0-6 Iowa State and there are 3 Big 12 teams with a combined conference record of 12-5 looming big-time.

So the Mountaineers will go from playing molehills (excluding the loss to Oklahoma State, which is 5-1) to encountering mountains (excluding Iowa State, which is 0-6).

Beat Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor or go back to being disrespected nationally even more than the ONE loss of the season caused, which I think was unfair.

But WVU really hasn't beaten much. The 5th/6th, 8th and 9th/10 teams in the Big 12.

If Gibbby's marauders can continue their performances (31-0 halftime, even against Kansas, is noticeable by everyone around the country), and Skyler can stop turning over the ball with fumbles and interceptions, then maybe my alma mater can roll through Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor and win the Big 12 title, alone or as a co-champ.

Skyler has 6 interceptions, about 1 a game, but has 2 fumbles and 2 interceptions in the last 2 games. That's too many turnovers by a QB, even a risk-taker like Skyler, particularly against Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor, which will capitalize on that the way that Oklahoma State did. And the Cowboys got 17 gift points from fumbles, the margin of defeat.

Let's roll into Texas and lasso the Longhorns!

The hate returns....

I don't "hate." Never have. Never will. I do, however, use my decades of paid expertise to provide free information to those on this board. They are welcome to agree or disagree. Such posts as yours, however, ARE hateful and unclassy. But if that's your preference....

I just prefer to root for my alma mater, analyze what is good and not so good.

I have praised Dana for great playcalling earlier this season. I have praised Gibby perpetually for coming up with one of the best defenses this side of Alabama. I even praised Ron Crook for the line play, and chided the line play, depending on which was deserved.

I don't understand this need to shoot the messenger if the opinion doesn't match yours 100%.

I hope you have a good day, sir. Please don't beat your dog or your wife.

No hate. This is all truth. We have had some good wins, yes... However, we will know how good our team is during these next few weeks. The old saying holds true here "they'l remember what you do in November".

Absolutely. Texas already has played the teams we have yet to meet, Oklahoma and Baylor. That plus the Longhorns is a HUGE Mountain to climb. Actually, a series of tall timber to chop down, to add another metaphor.

Not sure why people get upset over facts. I have enjoyed the season to this point but the road ahead gets more precarious. We can go 11-1 or 7-5 or somewhere in between. If we go 11-1 talk around Dana will involve contract extensions and possible other suitors if we go 7-5 talk will be about making a change. The one thing I know in my 67 years as a mountaineer fan is not to count them chickens until they have hatched.

The scary thing about Texas that you have NO idea which Longhorns you will get because Texas is the most hot and cold team in the Big 12 this season.

They have trouble with weak teams and give good teams fits. Since WVU is a good team ....

We'll see on Saturday, noon, on FoxSports1.

I already have my DVR set even though I'll be watching the game live. I like to replay and analyze.

I guess old sports writers never die away, they just keep doing what they once were paid to do.

See? You guys get the benefit of my extensive sports knowledge free? 3 journalism giants once paid me for it.
