The Mountaineers will play host to Saturday’s opponent, Youngstown State, in 2018 and James Madison in 2019.
The push to NOT play such schools apparently didn't take.
WVU played James Madison in 2012 at FedEx Field in D.C. for a $2.3 million payday. And won, 42-12. That won't excite the WVU fans when Jimmy Mad comes to Mountaineer Field in 2019.

Youngstown played WVU previously in 1938, the Penguins' first season of football. WVU won, 27-6.

Yuck. I'd love to see the NCAA step in and prevent these FCS games.

The WVU "fan base" should be excited ANY TIME WVU takes the field against any team. No school, and i mean NO SCHOOL, loads up their non-conference schedule with nothing but tough teams. Check out Alabama, Ohio State and others and then get back to me.

That's been my bugaboo about the SEC for a long time. Lots of chest thumping and chants of S-E-C, but the flagship program, 'Bama, has W. Ky, Kent (Sabin's alma mater) and UT/Chatt in 2016 ; Fresno St and Colorado St in 2017; Arkansas St and The Citadel in 2018. UGA, another bunch of chest-thumpers, has the likes of Murray St and Samford on future schedules.

tOSU is just as bad with Bowling Green and Tulsa in 2016, Army and UNLV in 2017 and FL Atlantic, Cincy and TCU in 2019. TCU has a home/home in 2018/2019, so at least they are trying to step it up some.

Everybody pads the schedule, some just worse than others, but it tends to be the big guys who get a break for doing it. If WVU had three cupcakes on the schedule we'd never hear the end of it.

Not much of a difference from fcs to minor non- power 5 conference teams. Until the "big boys" play a grown-up non-con schedule, I'm good with our schedule.

Agreed...and I loathe paying for these cream puff games on my ticket package...even at the reduced 55 bones for the Penguins. I'd happily pay a bit more for a legit opponent....

The difference? $$$$. The cash game goes from 500k to 800k and up

Good financial move by Lyons. The fans will show up no more or less for JMU than they would for Toledo or Southern Miss

The spots could easily be Marshall's if they're realize their place in Football society and stop demanding a home game.

I can't believe I'm writing this, but Keaton makes a good point. Marshall is cutting off its nose to spite its face. $1 million clear for coming to Morgantown is probably twice or triple what Marshall clears for a home game. Of course, maybe they don't want 0-12 to go to 0-13. Or, in Marshall terms, 12-0 vs. WVU.

Nailed it. What a shame

Leave no doubt (thanks, Bill) that, by scheduling Youngstown, James Madison and Delaware State, WVU has conceded that it will NOT be in the national football playoffs without being the unbeaten Big 12 champ.

Those games will be used against WVU to keep us out with one loss.

I know Alabama and Ohio State plays those kind of opponents, but they still would get into the national playoffs with 1 loss over WVU with 1 loss. We all know that. Just as Oklahoma has a better chance, despite the loss to Houston, of getting into the national playoffs with 1 loss if it destroys the rest of its schedule. We all know that.

Unfair? Sure. But it's the way the college football world works.

When you have NO national titles in 125 years, it's silly to demand as much respect as teams like Alabama, which has won 4 in 7 years.
