They claim to be the National Champion after only playing two P-5's all year, including their bowl game.

Laughable IMHO.

Yet both teams in the so called National Championship game lost to Auburn...Knights have a good a claim as either one of those, IMHO!

In case you never noticed the only p-5 they played all year before the Auburn game was 4-8 Maryland. Doubtful if they would have finished the year undefeated if they played 10 or 11 P-5 games like the playoff teams do.

Who on the Georgia or 'bama slate would have beaten them?

Hard to say.........but you'd have to agree that playing P-5's week in and week out is more difficult than the slate that UCF faced this year.

I've heard the attrition argument before and would be more impressed with it if the G-5's played two hand touch football. I saw a lot of AAC football this year and they were in full battle dress, pads , helmets, maybe some brass knuckles at the bottom of the pile!

So I guess you think that UCF would have gone 13-0 if they played either Georgia or Bama's schedule......
The only teams on 'bama's regular season slate that could play the Knights to within 2 TD's would be Auburn and possibly MIss State with Fitzgerald at QB!

That's the age old argument - they beat the team that beat the team, so they must be better than both of those teams. Makes for happy, but delusional fan bases, but doesn't mean much. For them to lay claim to the National Championship based on that looks rather amateurish on their part. Kind of like the year Marshall beat Maryland the same year we lost to the Terps and all the Herdiots decided they were the best team in the state based on a single game.

Most National Championship football claims are dubious , IMHO! Too much back room politics on the four teams that are afforded the opportunity to win the so called National Championship. UCF's claim is as legit as 'bama's or UGA. As for who the best team in WV, very easy way to settle that debate.

I'm all for an eventual split of the P-5's from the G-5's. Let the P-5 teams compete for the real National Championship, and let the G-5's have their own little championship playoff. With that should come changes that prohibit P-5's from scheduling FCS teams to bolster their W-L totals. I think it will happen that way sooner or later.

My SEC friends down here want to keep all claim to a "National Championship" in the family as well. They too are aghast at UCF's affront but deep down they're really mad at Auburn for getting their asses handed to them!

A 7 point loss is getting their ----- handed to them?

UCF sucks using herdlogic. WVU beats Oklahoma in Feista Bowl, Clemson in Orange bowl and Georgia in Sugar bowl ALL were conference champions and the same "Big East sucks" "wv-who only played one good team" .... rang out from the western portion of the state.

So which is it herders?

That's awesome Cuz, winning three Bowl games in a single season.

Playoffs to 8 slots. P5 winners of each conference. Highest ranked conference champ of the G5 and the last two highest ranked teams of the FBS after that. Top 6 selections are, pretty much, opinion-free. No muss, no fuss.

G-5 should never even be considered. Playing a G 5 schedule with one or two P 5's thrown in should never get them mentioned for the Championship. If a G-5 goes Independent and plays all P-5's and wins them, then they should get a look.

Certainly a more fair process but I'm not sure " fairness' is the direction the power to be want to head!

They are not. It's all about holding onto all that money.
I agree 100% ....they don't want a level playing field or anybody crowding in for a piece of the pie! I reviewed the 2017 Bowl results in games between G-5's and P-5's, neutral fields and neutral game officials and the G-5 's won 4 out of 7 games played between.
