MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 24, 2020) – West Virginia University safety Osman Kamara, a redshirt senior from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is the winner of the 2020 Tommy Nickolich Memorial Award, presented by the Blue and Gold News.

Kamara is in his fifth year as a member of the football team and has made his mark as a valuable member of the special teams, as well as adding depth in the defensive secondary. Through his hard work, he saw his playing time increase over the past two seasons, seeing action on more than 300 plays during that time. He was used on a season-high 17 snaps against Texas in 2019.

Kamara, who will graduate this summer with his bachelor’s degree in sport management, is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration. He has earned Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll and Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll accolades.

At the conclusion of spring drills each year, the Blue and Gold News awards the Tommy Nickolich Memorial Award to a walk-on team member who has distinguished himself through his attitude and work ethic. The award is presented in memory of Tommy Nickolich, a former WVU player (1979-82) who died of cancer in 1983.
