is officiating our games? I have not been keeping track but it sure seems like we lose more than we win when he is on the court. Even in years when we have a good team. I am betting the numbers could surprise.

Something I noticed with Higgins yesterday that I haven't noticed except for one other official(Gruber) this year. Higgins argued back quite often and at one point said "Bob...you complain every play". Sat in section 21 row B and I could hear him say it. It was on a foul shot.

And so does Coach K.....Coach Cal......Coach Williams......

Lol I wasn't saying they don't. Of course they do. I was just saying that there were times that Higgins went out of his way to argue with a coach yesterday .

Has to be under .500 when he does ref our games. It looks like he can't stand Huggins and the more Huggs complains the more Higgins calls. Maybe super ref Jim burr can come out of retirement and sub for Higgins if he has to do any more wvu games.

Where most officials want to respected by their peers and go unnoticed by the public, Higgins loves the spot light. He likes to give it back to the coaches and he calls fouls to teach lessons on players that have to audacity to complain about his stellar officiating.

I watched him almost give a technical to Devin for complaining. He stopped at the foul line, rather demonstratively so everyone could see him, and looked back at Devin and almost T'd him up but didn't. I said to myself that Higgins would get Devin with a phantom foul and make him pay for complaining because thats what Higgins does. Sure enough, not long after Devin had Spangler on his hip and has a line to the basket. Devin drives with Spangler out of position alll the way to the basket and Higgins calls an offensive foul. It might have been one of the worst calls I've seen this year especially considering cousins shouldered Phillip to the floor with an obvious charge call and nothing from any of the refs.

Don't get me wrong, Officiating didn't lose the game but it damn well prevented the comeback at a few key junctures like the missed 10 second back court.

Yeah .... it sure does seem like the more you complain to Higgins the more you are drawn into the world of officiating that he creates for himself by always showing coaches/players who complain that the officials are still in charge of the game.

And yet ..... on the other hand he has a point when he tells a coach/player something along the lines of, "You're always complaining about something. Stick to coaching/playing the game."

On the one hand it's frustrating. On the other hand it's refreshing to see a referee remind coaches and players that their first job is to coach and play.

The truth is this .... the officials are in charge of the game, like it or not. So temper how much you complain about them.

I thought the 10 second count resets on a kicked ball. Only 3 instances I am aware of where the 10 second count does not reset is a deflection out of bounds, held ball and if offensive team get a technical foul. I hate that a timeout resets it.

A Time out does not reset it any more. they changed that this past off season.

My bad, I really thought they changed that this offseason.

I did too until the about the third time it happened against us this season I had to look up the rule. That is the next thing that needs changed. That punishes good defense. I also think that they really need to look at the offensive player using the off arm to discard the defender. If the defensive player can not touch the offensive guy the offense player shouldn't be able to push off either.
