how far these two programs (WVU and Clemson) have come since that night. Clemson of course has soared and WVU has gone on a slide like few programs have in such a short time. What's the difference? Management!!!! One head coach that has moved his program forward with great dispatch and the other who still seems to be trying to find out where the bathroom is.

This comparison from that night should be a wakeup call for all Mountaineer Fans (IMHO). I suggest that there is nothing on the horizon to give us hope for the future with the present head coach. And to make matters worse we find that somehow one of our prized Mountaineers (Worley) is, according to the Morgantown paper this morning, meets the academic eligibility requirements to play in the bowl, BUT because some paperwork didn't get to the NCAA he can't play. This is a bit confusing, how did this happen if the paperwork got in for the others who meet academic requirements to play and Worley's didn't. It seems like this might be some type of management issue here. Story was just not clear on it.

Back to the path of the Clemson and Mountaineer Football programs since the Orange Bowl. This indeed is troubling. To me, it brings into focus the importance the results of the ASU-WVU bowl game.

Still want to fire Huggins? LOL! Sound like a similar pep talk you gave two years ago referencing WVU basketball.

Please tell your coach to stop calling Durante and offering him $25/hr and advance copies of tests, to play at Marshall...

Clemson 2015--ACC member
ACC--under FULL rights control ESPN--heavily pushed for success by that network needing the ACC to be a "power". Prime time games and on air pushing of recruits there ad nauseum since 2011.
ACC--still weakest of the power five conferences, making wins much more easy to come by
Clemson has had about one coaching change since then--hiring Oklahoma's then defensive coordinator

WVU 2011--Big East member
WVU 2015--BIG 12 member--facing new coaching staffs, new venues, new players, different travel etc., etc.
BIG 12--heavily scorned in the media since realignment, no ABC prime games for WVU despite possibilities for that,
No pushing of recruiting for WVU's program in the media.
BIG 12--still in top two of toughest conferences since realignment--much more difficult to have winning record
WVU-numerous coaches left to take positions at other major universities. Lack of continuity, need to recruit players and player depth for entirely new different style of play and level of play across the board.

Yeah, it must just be "management", nothing else to it at all.

You can add that many were calling for Dabo's head because of that loss and some poor to average seasons but the AD stuck with him and look where they are now. IMO, we are at that same stage with Holgerson. The jury is still out and we have a little more of his body of work to evaluate before jettisoning the baby with the bath water.

This is simply false. Dabo got Clemson over the hump and won the ACC championship in only his third full season as coach. Nobody worth a salt was calling for his head after that Orange Bowl performance. He did what he needed to do and canned the DC. They had great recruiting classes coming in and the results were beginning to take shape on the field.

His third full season. We will be going in what, year six with Dana and we still aren't as competitive as TCU who arguably had a bigger jump in competition? I'll be back on the Dana bandwagon if/when he stops costing us games. Until then, I think anyone can probably get us 7 wins a year in this conference.

Hoping we win as I expect we Will just so some like the original poster will slither back under their rocks.

Every year Clemson is reeling in big time DLine recruits too. Wish we could land a big time DLine recruit in my lifetime. Still waiting for Finau lol

Big 12 top 2 toughest? Only until Bowl season when they get exposed

WTF

The ACC is a one horse show. Our 4th place team just demolished their runner up using their 4th string QB.
The Big 10 is a one horse show and takes it on the chin from the MAC.
Do you even know the Big 12 bowl record this year.

I agree that Clemson is good but I have came to realize that Dabo has changed. He now sees himself as King Dabo. At least, that is my perception. I wonder what precipitated this change?

Now, I predict that WV will compete for the Big 12 championship within the next 5 years. I am comfortable saying this. Remember, I am the one that predicted that Dana would not be fired at the end of this season........ in the face of people who are worth their salt saying he would go. You know who I'm talking about ...............the shiny shoes.

Well currently the Big 12 is 1-2 in Bowl games they where 2-5 Last year. What does Baylor's win over North Carolina have to do with Clemson's physical domination of Oklahoma? Ohio State and Michigan won there games so i wouldn't exactly call them one horse show. What has baylor done that is so impressive? why are you surprised that the Big 12 champ lost? They have been beaten the last 4 years. Baylor lost to Michigan State last year and got dominated by central Florida the year before. Kansas State was spanked by Oregon are 1st year in the Big 12. The Big 12 is a middle heavy conference with some good teams but no great teams

Because you argued the Big XII isnt the 2nd best conference. You cant even remember what you post. [laughing]

The Big XII plays 9 conference games when everyone else plays 8. We had 7 out of 10 teams bowl eligible.

When I watch Clemson I DON'T see..clock management issues, bad or questionable play calling, players out of position, turning the ball over, stupid penalties. That is absolutely management and not an issue of new conference membership and no matter how many times you personally attack a poster with a picture calling that person a hillbilly (which I thought was against forum rules) you cannot argue that.

The Big 12 isn't the 2nd best conference they have allot of good teams in the middle but no great teams. The Big 12 hasn't had a team good enough to win the national championship in the last 5-6 years. The Big 12 champion has been non competitive in 3 of the last 4 bowl games.

You do realize TCU and Baylor were co champs last year?
You do realize TCU spanked Ole Miss 42-3 last year in their bowl game?
You do realize the other co champ, Baylor lost to Mich State last year 42-41 in their bowl game?
You do realize Oklahoma beat #3 Alabama in their bowl game in 2013 by 14 points? (and their only two losses that season were to Texas and Baylor)
I don't think you know very much about the Big XII.

You do realize that Baylor beat Tcu last year so in reality they where the conference champ. You do realize that Michigan State Wasn't the Big 10 Champion last year. Tcu's win over ole miss was nice but Ole Miss has only just started to establish its self as a player in the modern era of the Sec unless you consider the late 60's and early 70's the modern era. Oklahoma's win over Alabama 2 years ago was nice but Oklahoma wasn't the Big 12 champion Baylor was and what happened to them when they played Central Florida? You do realize the big 12 is 1-3 so far this year and have to run the table on Saturday to avoid another Losing bowl season. You do realize if the Big 12 loses one game tomorrow it will ensure the conference hasn't had a winning bowl record in at least 3 seasons. Why are defending this overrated conference that plays little league defense?
