What if it turns out that our Special teams (kicking, kickoff, punting, and punt returns) prove to be the difference for the team this year? It's not really a stretch. We already have one of the best kickers in College football (...Josh Lambert;Lou Groza award finalist last year)...potentially one of the biggest legs in College football with Boom Stache...(Nick O'Toole)
Now just suppose with Shell completely healthy, complimented on K.O. returns with Gibson & that unit averages 35 plus yds per return with both being legitimate threats to take it to the house? And let's just say for kicks we stick Dravon Henry, or Jackie Marcellus or heck even William Crest back on punt returns and one of 'em turns into a fearless field flipper for us?
We're putting some of our best athletes on special teams, and with the depth we have this year we're actually using some pretty talented guys out there, not just guys who wouldn't otherwise see the field.
So I'm just thinking with a little better execution & techniques Coaching, our biggest liability last year could just turn into one of our assets this year...and could very well be the difference for us with a plus 3 or 4 W's? I'm just sayin'.
Wouldn't THAT be a nice addition to Coach DeForest's employee file huh?
