Just knowing that Lyons has Dana's back just like Luck did probably means a lot to him.

Lyons is starting to impress a lot of people with his decision making abilities and timing. He let everyone know that Dana is still the man to lead us, and I suspect that the best time to announce a contract extension is after the bowl game (and not after the final game of the regular season). Dana can tell recruits that the contract extension is forthcoming and then show them the actual paperwork long before signing day.

I heard that the players & assistant coaches were extremely happy that Lyons was able to keep Holgorsen in Morgantown.

No contract extension necessary. Isn't Holgorsen under contract for 2 more years? I'm fine with Dana coming back if that's the decision s Lyons feels is best. I would say Dana gets that extension when and if he deserves it. Lyons is giving Dana one last chance to get this right. The last thing he is going to do to WVU is handcuff the university to a coach that might not be the answer by giving more undeserved money and making the same mistake with a buyout. Everyone should be happy. Dana gets his last chance, and will be replaced if he fails in 2016. Both sides of the fanbase get what they want. Either get it right or WVU will find someone who will.

Able to keep him in Morgantown?? Seriously?? Where was he going? That's about the most lukewarm statement from an AD regarding a coach I have ever seen. Dana should be embarrassed by Lyons' comments.

Lyons & Gee backing Holgorsen is a really tough pill for the trolls & low information fans (especially the ones who can't understand the competitiveness of a power conference) to swallow. Dana is the man to make us competitive in the Big 12, and that is a huge challenge considering that WVU is only a few years removed from being in the Big Least.

I seriously doubt he'll see an extension until after next season.
The question then is what would it take for Lyons to give him an extension. Would 6-6 do it? 5-7? 7-5? Just my opinion, but I think 8-4 would get him an extension although the bar may be lower in Lyons' eyes. Who knows?

Probably, but I think you would have to include how we finish this year. If we go 8-5 this year, I think 8 wins next year will get an extension. Given all the seniors we lose on defense, I think winning 8 may be a huge undertaking.

I am trying to figure out...................am I 'low information' fan or a 'high information' fan. Please comment and try to help me figure this out....................without being brutally honest. Remember, I do play cards with the Chief of Police down here in Cucumber, WV.

After reading that and your followup posts...thinking the Troll is you. If he had his back he'd get an extension and money for his coaches. Drink some more.

You guys can debate this from now till forever....but I'd hardly consider ANYTHING that has happened or been said that shows, "Lyons has Dana's back'.

It could be so...but people are reaching when they act like Lyons has endorsed our coach beyond the required blah blah blah crap.

LMAO. Love the idea of the head coach showing a 17 yo kid his employment contract. I'm, sure this is standard procedure for Nick Saban.

Just wondering, are you by chance 12? You stir the pot more than anyone, and I've read "troll and low information" more than I ever cared to!! I used to be on your side, but it's so obvious that you are just trying to get people mad, it's not funny!! You are just as much of a trill as the haters, you just come from a different angle!!
