Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna C.C. cornerback Alex Woods told me that he had heard from West Virginia before but today he was shocked when they offered him a scholarship. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder told me that he originally signed with ODU out of high school but didn't qualify and arrived at Lackawanna where he earned second team all-Conference honors last year. He is actually originally from the same high school as Donte Thomas-Williams and the two played together for a number of years. He is close friends with both of the signees from Lackawanna this year as well. Woods appears to be on the verge of blowing up as Penn State and several others are sniffing around and he told me that he plans to take his time before making a decision. He is a mid year enrollee and has three years to play two. He plans to visit this spring.
