Its not both parties. From reading the actual court document, Flynn's lawyer and the Special Counsel BOTH asked the Court to reschedule the matter. It was not Mueller who asked for the delay. It was not Flynn's lawyer who asked for the delay. It was a joint motion by BOTH parties. What was the reason? At this point, no one other than Flynn's team and Mueller's team knows (if they had a court hearing, it's likely the Judge also knows the reason). People can speculate and spin, but that's all it is. Each side will spin their own way. Speculation: Mueller wants to corroborate information given to him by Flynn to test its truthfulness before he is willing to make a written recommendation on sentencing. Speculation: Flynn has more information he wants to give Mueller to lighten his sentence. We don't know yet. But it is a mischaracterization to say that one side or the other is "on the run" when both sides join in the motion. Sometimes a lawyer will agree to sign off on a joint motion simply as a matter of professional courtesy to the other lawyer. The judge's reaction to the joint request is a whole separate issue.
