EXCERPT:

The top-ranked Wildcats are easily the biggest challenge a Mountaineer basketball team has faced since going up against No. 1-ranked UCLA and its 7-foot-1-inch center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1968.

There are likely no Jabbars on this year's Kentucky team, but the Wildcats might have a Curtis Rowe, a Sidney Wicks or a Lynn Schackelford running around on the court tonight.

It's clear Kentucky coach John Calipari has assembled and awesome basketball team with impressive size at every position, prompting comparisons to other great college teams in the past and even some comparisons to the bottom-level NBA teams of the present.

"This may be the first time in a long time that Cal has had very integral pieces back," noted Huggins, who is 8-2 in games played against John Calipari. "His guards are back and they're both 6-6 and long. They've had a year with John and they understand what he wants done."
