Jerry West Comes in at No. 9 on List of Top 50

Yes easily. How much better was Jordan in 1997 than Magic in 1986? 5%? I would argue Magic did a better job at making his TEAM better than Jordan ever did.
Michael Cooper was a defensive wall back then. He would at least have slowed down Jordan.
Rodman was fine against 1997 bigs. He would have been eaten alive by Kareem. Scotty against Worthy would have been a draw as well. The Lakers depth and size would have crushed your " best team ever."

Jordan, Pippen and Rodman were all defensive walls. It would have been a fun series, but your absolute statement is ridiculous.

That team had Kukoc coming off the bench, I think their depth was fine.

IMO, Pippen would have covered Magic and he's an all time great lock down defender.

It's just a basketball discussion, don't get all bitchy and ruin it.

1) Did I interject on your post or was it the other way around?

2) Back to the discussion. If Pippen was covering Magic then I assume you would have Rodman covering Worthy. Are you going to have Luc Longly covering Kareem 1 on 1? Kareem was a very good foul shooter for a center. He would literally have 40 pts a game and run through the 20 fouls the Bulls had at the center position before every game was done if you single covered him...which the Bulls would absolutely have to do.

You use Jordan to cheat down on Kareem and who ever he's covering would kill you. There were no weakness on the Lakers or the Celtics. That's why both would make a quick lunch of that Bulls team.

1) You interjected on mine. If you require evidence, click back to page one of this thread and begin reading....if you apply yourself, you can do it.

2) Either Scottie or Jordan could cover Magic, effectively. Scottie could take Worthy and Rodman could assist in double teaming Kareem. Rodman use to cover Shaq, better than most Centers.

Defensively, that team was elite. And I disagree that Jordan was only 5% better than Magic, I think he was the dominant player of the two.

The Lakers very well might win, but using absolute statements like that is silly. Most consider the Bulls the best or top 3 all time greatest team...no one was steam rolling them, as you imply.

For what it's worth, Simmons has the all time greatest teams ranked the following:

1. 85-86 Celtics
2. 95-96 Bulls
3. 86-87 Lakers
4. 88-89 Pistons
5. 00-01 Lakers
6. 96-97 Bulls

I'm comfortable with that, and I'd say the top 3 are interchangeable....with my preference to Bulls/Celtics.

Some of those Spurs teams have to be near that top 5. There was one (maybe 03-04?) that was awesome to watch and truly great ball club. The crazy thing is that Duncan, Manu, and TP all hit their prime at different times. They have built a true dynasty and it continues with Leonard and Aldridge.

Crazy that same core is still competing for championships a decade and 1/2 later.

That was 02-03, Spurs v. Nets with Kidd, Kittles, Kenyon Martin and Jefferson.

Steve Kerr's last season.

Jesus. I made the mistake of actually agreeing with your post, then you of course couldn't stand for that. Nevermind.
