This hearing focused on the 187 minutes that went by before Trump was forced by White House attorneys Cipollone and Herschmann and his daughter Ivanka to record a video for the mob to leave the capitol and go home. This was a mob that he invited to the capitol in his tweet from December 18th that said Be there, it will be Wild. This was the same mob who he told at the J6 rally on the ellipse to march down to the capitol because we will never take our country back with weakness. This was a mob whom Trump was told was armed and still told them to march down to the capitol.

For 2.5 hours, Trump sat alone in a dining room next to the oval office and watched as the mob viciously attacked the capitol police, stormed the capitol, and disrupted the certification of the 2020 election of which is a fundamental process of our democracy. While watching the insurrection unfold, Trump did nothing. He did not order the armed forces to put down the violence. He watched with glee as there was a chance his supporters would be able to successfully shut down the process for certifying the election.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

--More Republicans testify....this time the witnesses were Matthew Pottinger who was Trump's deputy nation security advisor and Sarah Hutchinson who was Trump's deputy press secretary. They were both at the White House on J6.

--The committee continued to reveal that House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and Fox News hosts, among others, pleaded with Trump to put an end to his followers' invasion.

--Mike Pence's security detail feared for their lives as Trump sent a tweet an hour into the riot about Mike Pence not having the courage to do what was necessary to steal the election for Trump. Chants of Hang Mike Pence were ringing out on the grounds of the capitol.

--The committee played additional, never-before-seen footage of Trump struggling to refine a taped message to the country a day after the riot. The outtakes show the then-president having a hard time with using the word "yesterday" and refusing to say that the "election is over." Trump's aides were disgusted that he did not mention the death of a capitol police offer who was confronted by the rioters. So much for all the bullshit talk about backing the blue.

--Pottinger testified that the insurrection emboldened America's enemies: "It, I think, emboldened our enemies by helping give them ammunition to feed a narrative that our system of government doesn’t work — that the United States is in decline," he said during the hearing.

--Matthews said in live testimony that Trump's refusal to act and call off the mob on Jan. 6 was "indefensible" and she decided to resign that evening. Several other Trump cabinet members including the secretary of education and secretary of transportation resigned.

--The committee aired a Fox News clip from that day, a channel Trump was "watching all afternoon". In the clip, the anchors noted how dangerous the situation was at the Capitol and that Trump hadn't said anything to call off the mob.

--Trump never made an effort to call upon the U.S. Secretary of Defense, National Guard or even law enforcement for aid in quelling the insurrection, former White House counsel Pat Cipollone said in a taped interview with the committee played Thursday.

--Additional witnesses have testified about a "heated exchange" between Trump and his Secret Service detail after agents refused to take him to the Capitol, Luria said.

--"Even though he understood many of his supporters were armed, the president was still adamant to go to the Capitol when he got off the stage at the Ellipse. But his Secret Service detail was equally determined not to let him go. That led to a heated argument with his detail that delayed the departure of the motorcade to the White House,"

--Not a good night for Trump maybe even worse for Josh Hawley being shown running through the halls of the capitol as the mob stormed in. This is the same mob that earlier in the day he raised his fist in support of while under the protection of the capitol police who were later violently attacked. This tweet shows him running like a coward and sums up the state of the MAGA Qanon politicians:

BBBBBBBBAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

What does it mean to you when after all of these revelations, Trump has a 2.5 pt lead on Biden in 2024?

Thinks if the National Guard was called up they could show up in riot gear in three hours. Extremely ignorant on how shit works. Nancy and Mitch should have made the request weeks prior when they learned the event was going to take place. Fact.

It actually falls on Nancy because that was her responsibility. It's in the SOP and anyone stating otherwise is FOS. It will all come out after November when the Republicans retake the house.
