come to my senses regarding Marshall.

In fact, I now subscribe to the Herd theory that MU is far superior to WVU in all athletic endeavors.

And don't be bringing up the time worn notion that just because the Mountaineers dominate the Herd in head-to-head contests, and I do mean dominate, that has nothing to do with it.

Moral victories, fighting through numerous conspiracies foisted off on Marshall by WVU, massive fan support, lies about MU taking subsidies from the taxpayers(just 28% of the athletic budget...that's picky stuff)and the Herd's ability to make its case by use of the terrifying economic boycott of any business that doesn't toe the Marshall line convinces me that we have no chance against them.

Now not playing them in anything but baseball means we've dodged a bullet the size of an ICBM.

I'm chastened but realistic.

I'm right there with you gcb..........Watching WVU win some and lose some against P5 level teams pales in comparison to racking up wins over teams that you have to google search to see who they are. I can't wait for my first visit to the most hallowed ground in the college football world, the Joan, when Morgan State rolls into town, and the ticket price can't be beat. In contrast WVU home games are so difficult with the high ticket prices, difficult parking because of so many people crowding into town to watch the nations elite programs visit Morgantown. Then there is that noise thing....the crowd shouting Let's Go Mountaineers, the mascot running around firing that rifle..... sure gets annoying. It will be much more enjoyable reading a good book on the 40 yard line in a half filled Joan, and the traffic caused by the 20,000 or so fans on game day should be easy to deal with. Besides that, Marshall has two games against opponents that we outgrew when we moved to the Big 12, Louisville and Pitt.......it sure will be fun when I join the Herdiots as they cream their jeans over actually playing someone that WVU used to play back in the old days....I'm sure that would be much more exciting than when the likes of little ole' Oklahoma, Baylor, Missouri, and other P5 teams visit Mountaineer Field. Then they have that plane crash thing going for them, and the movie, and oh yeah.......the back to back to back thing. Now all I need to do is save up a hundred bucks or so for my season tickets and do a google search to see if anyone sells Marshall t-shirts......

I've finally decided that other than Tony, Humpy, and Marine that no other herd "fan" is deserving of a response to any of the jealous blather that is posted here....they are not our rivals...they have forfeited that right thru the actions of their admin and their failure to beat us in anything......I think if more of us take that stand the problem will solve itself

GCB, haven't you heard, Huntington his having a revitalization. And it all starts with Mooshall. WVU can no longer conspire to hold down the greenies. Pullman Hotel is going to become a Doubletree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Huge I tell you. The Big Green is having a drive to get 2500 members, which will require a $50.00 payment. Big time!!!!!!. There will be a new 20,000 seat baseball stadium soon. You just wait. They will be holding the 2024 Summer Olympics in Huntington also. That indoor facility they built is 32,000,000,000 square feet. Deal with it.

It has begun to hit me that our time at the top is slowly but surely eroding away.

As evidence.....I was at the Huntington Mall yesterday and actually saw 2 different people wearing MU paraphenalia.

I was crushed and I broke down into a paroxysm of sobbing.

People comforted me and said they understood.

Can you imagine if we had announced a Doubletree in Morgantown?

Undoubtedly they woulda announced a Quadrupletree I'm Huntington.

GCB, it appears the Herd board has spawned another Sam. A true mouth breather. Go check out the thread on Herd Nation about the Doubletree by poster The Greenhouse Effect. A true genius he is. He makes Sam appear sane at times.

As nutty as Sam is this guy is way around the bend.

I can't read his stuff.

Maybe thinking having Louisville and Pitt on your schedule and thinking you've arrived shows just which fan base is delusional.....that coupled with the graphic on another thread where some Herdiot included Marshall right up there with Alabama, Florida State, and others of the elite programs simply based on the number of home wins.

Not us crowing about outgrowing programs that have won multiple National Championships in Football and Basketball. Wonder is the Patriots and the Cavs know that you've " outgrown" them as well! Cousins your sense of self importance never ceases...you boys are always amusing!

Maybe you skipped over the part where I declared that I am now a full-fledged Herdiot......you guys have convinced me that all that matters is the W-L record no matter who it's against. I'm tired of losing to a bunch of top 10 teams every year and looking forward to sitting in a half filled Joan waiting for Ohio U to bring their best effort......and getting to Athens Ohio is hell of a lot quicker and a whole lot cheaper than going those towns where the Big 12 teams play. Travelling to Western Kentucky looks to be a whole lot cheaper and more easily within reach than going to Baylor or TCU.....and to top it off, us Herdiots can rack up yet another 10 win season. Besides, I don't really like Christmas shopping and what better excuse could I offer my wife not to take her to the mall on a weeknight in late December than to remind her that the Herd is playing their bowl game on that night. I'm sold......you win.....Mooshall is now the flagship as far as I'm concerned........yeppper.

Can someone translate from butthurt to english?

Link to prove that? I'll provide a link that for three straight years we've finished ahead of you

And it means nothing, considering most coaches are biased. However, I'll provide a link that shows WVU has beaten Marshall 12 times out of the 12 times they faced each other on the gridiron.

Which doesn't prove anything. I'll show you a link in which Kansas state has beat you every year you've been in the B12. And Pitt and PSU will forever be a better program than WVU based on wins alone.

Yes, the cousins tell us they've "outgrown" Pitt!

you mean like Appalachian State(8-14) or Bowling Green(8-21) or Dayton(6-16) or East Carolina(5-10) or Furman(8-15) or Miami-yes the one in Ohio(12-30) or Ohio U(20-33) or Tennessee-Chattanooga(7-13) or Western Michigan(12-22) or Xavier(6-14)

What? Do you see WVU fans going to KSU and Penn State boards claiming superiority to those two teams?

As for Pitt, WVU has beaten it more times in the past 50 years than lost to it.

50 years is a long time.

Marshall continuously plays one of the weakest schedules in football and has lost every time it has faced WVU. The Herd is an afterthought.

We're down to the bottom of the barrel in conference realignment and Marshall still isn't in the conversations....In the AAC conversations, Marshall is an afterthought. Even when CUS1AA is brought up, Marshall is an afterthought.

You can moral victory us to death and that will not change Marshall's place in college football.

Marshall hasn't beaten anyone and outside of Cabell County, the nation knows WVU is West Virginia, no matter how much little brother kicks and screams.

Except for all the pollsters who did NOT VOTE WVU ahead of us

I guess I missed where we have outgown Pitt. We have owned Louisville and done pretty well against Pitt the past 35 years. During that same time there have been some teams who didnt beat us at all.

Actually it does. There are numerous articles regarding shenanigans with the final coaches polls. Coaches voting for conference mates just to get them more votes. Steve Spurrier would always give a vote for Duke because they gave him his first coaching job, even if they only won 2-3 games.

That's the poll you use.

With any objective polling or any head-to-head matchups you fall woefully short. I suppose maybe I'd cling to that coaches poll too if I were you. On second thought, no I wouldn't, I'd never lie to myself and delude myself like that. But people have varying degrees of integrity depending on the topic/situation.

Why not just play us and end the discussion via the scoreboard? But when it comes to disingenuous excuses why the matchup is unworkable, I'll concede you boys have no peer and that does not need to be proven by the coach's poll!

We have a workable solution for us, you guys won't agree to it. For some reason you think you deserve preferential treatment. Talk about disingenuous ... your football coach ran his mouth endlessly when he knew the games wouldn't be played, and when a game was offered, you guys backed out because "you already had VT on your schedule", and then when the series was announced your blustery coach ran for the hills.

Then your basketball coach started running his mouth too. False bravado, hoping and praying that his nonsense would lead to the end of the series so he could play it out in the papers instead of on the court.

You say anytime, anyplace ... right up until we name a time and place.

If you want the series so badly, agree to our terms. If not, shut up. You're the ones with something to prove.

Hey, it's not our basketball coach that ran for cover! Danny simple offered that the series should be home and home which was Huggy's cue to throw a hissy fit and end the game in Charleston! I suspect WVU's hoop record in Huntington had something to do with all those gyrations.
