can't keep running backs on the roster. Don't blame Smallwood however. How will the depth chart at running back look next season? What was once a strength (the depth of the pre season 2015 roster) now is looking thin. Guess SH better have an all conference year throwing pinpoint passes to receivers who will hold on to them.

good lord. Another jab at Dana. If anything it's a compliment to WVU that players are leaving early for the NFL.

To answer your question, which I did not perceive as a jab at anyone, WV is loaded as far as bodies go in the backfield. Wellman returns at FB as a RS Jr, along with Vuelik as a RS So. I don't recall him having any playing time at FB.

RB position has Shell returning as a RS Sr., along with a group of players who will all be either RS So or true So; Thomas-Williams, Tillman & Watson. I don't recall any field time for them either. Thomas-Williams has the best profile on paper at 6'1" & 225#.

Two commits; McCoy and Pettaway coming in at RB as Fr.

Potentially there shouldn't be a lack of available players. However, the jury is out on 75% of them.

Shell
DTW
Marcellus
Wellman
Howard
Crest
McKoy
Pettaway

excuse me for not seeing the depth issues that the OP's aucery vaginal is crying about...

I LIKED YOUR MESSAGE WITHOUT READING IT!

I mean ... who doesn't like Woody? Is Jack hanging around here somewhere?

I wish that Wendell was coming back.

But since he received some pretty good pre-draft feedback it's hard to fault him for going. If the NFL doesn't work out he probably doesn't have too much work left to complete a degree if he hasn't done so already.

Wendell wins whether he makes the NFL or not.
Another year of college and he might tear up a knee and .... well, you can figure it out.

Look at Kevin White. He incurred a serious injury. Fortunately it was after he signed with the Bears. Look at what happened to DeSean Butler .... if the opportunity is really there ... GO FOR IT!

Hurdygurdy....I agree with you about the potential for injury as with Butler etc. Post wasn't about Smallwood leaving (good for him), but about real depth next year (and not just a bunch of names etc). Not sold on Shell and DWT and Marcellus are still not looking like go do guys. Seen way too many "future of the program" guys come and go without getting their uniforms muddy (of course I reference football before rugs.)

WR was a worry before last year also, and we had some bright surprises....Same thing will happen at RB

Well Wvu has always done a good job at developing depth at RB position and hopefully someone will fill the void but if they don't just don't try and blame a previous coach for it

I'm curious to see how Crest is used in 2016. With Smallwood leaving this might be his chance at getting on the field alot more. Also gives you an ability to have some trick play and wildcat type packages. I have faith Dana with figure it out.

your comment shows you have no intellectual ability to understand the points I've made in the past regarding the depth issues at that time. Which has nothing to do with any possible failures in the future to develop a running back. Get an education and put the bong down and pay attention to what is being taught to you.

ThePunish-EER....notice that you often take personal attacks against anyone not seeing your immense wisdom. Must be a real life burden LOL.

Your comments show you always get defensive about any perceived criticism of Dana. You have already proven in the case of scholarships that your math skills need quite a bit of improvement. Surprised you still have a nursing license Drug divertor

there's no more players left from the prior staff....after next yrs class is gone, we have 39/85 on the roster..explain that

Good Lord!

It's college football, not the NFL. No one plays more than 4 seasons, and players who leave for the NFL do so because they're told they can make the grade. Not always true, and we have plenty of examples of that. But once they get a degree, what value is there to them in remaining with their college?

Every season is a rebuilding season for every college in America. You're allowed 25 scholarships a year. Do the math. 25% of your players on average leave every year. All over the country.

It's WAY too early. for the Chicken Littles to come out of the henhouse.
