1) Don't get killed in a free throw fiesta. WV is 349th out of 351 in fouls committed (or called) per game (a whopping 24 fouls). I-State? 1st nationally (14.9). If Paige gets in lightning quick foul trouble, it's going to be a long night.

2) No. 1 couldn't be a bigger mismatch, so to try to attack a potentially game-deciding factor, I'd run dribble drive offense with Paige & Phillip going to the bucket a la the Kansas game. Yeah, it's hard, but try to get some whistles on the road and free throws. Make the 2nd FT & set the press.

3) Win the turnover margin.

what say you?

couple other points of note

- Says the Des Moines Register, Niang has a bruised hip. McKay has left knee tendinitis. Sounds like both will play regardless.
- I-State's lone home loss was vs Baylor. It took 94 points to beat 'em.
- In losing by 10 at aTm Saturday, I-State had 16 turnovers and were held below their usual shooting. They led by 2 with 4 mins to go, but apparently aTm went on a 16-4 run & shut them down late. aTm's coach said: "I thought they wore down."

I missed the game, but whatever it was aTm did late offensively and defensively, it certainly worked. I'm sure the WV staff is well aware.

..in the Ames Tribune..“If people want to know what it’s like,” ISU senior Georges Niang said, “have you ever been chased by a couple wild pit bulls?

“That’s what their press really feels like.”

I agree about attacking the hoop. We can't survive without the opportunity to setup our press and free throw's might be our best chance - especially without Holton there to grab second attempts.

We are in all likelihood not going to win this game. So long as we dont get blown out I am going to be okay with the result.

Williams, Ahmad, and Watkins will have to step up their game.

If DW comes out and shoots himself, and his team, in the foot over and over it's going to be a long night unless Ahmad and/or Watkins start playing like a madman.

Williams keeps himself in trouble with fouls and as a result sits the bench. If he can avoid the foul thing and keep himself in the game...................WV beat ISU. I remain a DW fan but heck............he figure this out. Huggins can't do it for him. Dadgummit!

I think we need to trap less and play more straight up full court man to man against ISU. They have been very good at breaking the press in the past and seem to get a lot of easy baskets handling slow traps.

They checked all the boxes & scratched out a fantastic road win. Great night to be a Mountaineer!

1) Free throw fiesta was averted: 17-22 WV. 11-19 I-State.
2) The offense came out stagnant, but got in rhythm & won the game behind Paige & Phillip attacking. Combined 32 points, 9 boards, 3 steals. 7 assists from Phillip. They drew fouls with penetration & hit 8/11 FTs. We won by 5.
3) Turnover margin: I-State 16 WV 15. Ball security much improved 2nd half to cap off the comeback.

Yeahhhh baby! Let's Go!
