--The Meadowlands-Lambert Trophy stuff has fallen so far off the radar that nobody follows it, which is sad. And it's no wonder - there were no weekly polls (at least none that I saw) and the award wasn't presented until late February.
This past year Navy won the award and it was well-deserved. WVU was third behind Temple.
Think about that for a minute - the top two teams in Eastern football last year were Navy and Temple.
This would make a perfectly fine Big East football conference if the Big XII implodes, but alas, everybody else would have to leave their leagues to make it happen, which will never happen.
I miss Eastern football; it was more intimate and rivalry driven than what we have now. Sure, we're making a lot more money, but we should be winning more than we are. Even so, I don't look at gameday with quite the same anticipation - this is especially true for road games, where WVU's just out there somewhere. But that's just me. Anyway....
