I haven't been a believer in Holgs as he was consistently mediocre or worse. I haven't posted in a long time but last year, I thought we needed to make a change. However, this year is showing me a few things:

1. The depth the Holgs was looking for is finally here. We lose a ton from the defense and don't miss a beat because of depth. Next year is looking pretty decent too. Which leads to:
2. I think we can challenge for the B12 championship on a semi-regular basis. I don't think we're ever going to be pre-season top three every year but if we can challenge every 2 to 4 years (and not be at the bottom the other years), I'm fine with that.
3. Holgs is a much better head coach than he was when he started.
4. Holgs contract should be extended. Not sure what Gibby is looking for long term but we should wrap him up.
5. The rest of the staff is excellent.

My one complaint: a team is a reflection of their coach and when Holgs loses it on the sidelines, I think our team may start to show that also. They haven't yet so maybe I'm wrong.

I agree with everything but want to add bringing in Wickline was huge. Holgs has someone in the booth he trusts and apparently suing to listen to. In prior years there was always that one series where the playcalling was horrendous. Not this year.
As far as the rants, they probably have seen /heard worse in practice.

Tony may or may not be the one winning these games but it is for certain that Holgs is the one getting paid for winning these games. Holgs ain't improved one little bit since he arrived at WVU..............or has he? How in the heck would I know? If WV beats Oklahoma tomorrow and then wins out.................Holgs will be called an offensive genius and it will be deja vu all over again.

Definitely agree that he is much improved. The biggest change I've seen is that he seems more focused on details. In press conferences now he will say where WVU needs work even if it's a decent win where as he would shrug it off if WVU barely eked past a I-AA school by one score. Like Huggins, I think keeping on them about playing hard every second gets the most out the players performance on the field. I'm convinced that Holgorsen deserves an extention and I would've said the buyout is close to worth it to be rid of him last year.
