I'm bought in

I’ll give him the opportunity to earn my support. Not that I have any other option lol, but I do think at some level he does regret how that all went down so it’s a good first step. Also trashing Marshall and Pitt is always a way to get a cheap pop as they say.

I find the trash towards Marshall and Pitt humorous even though I am in a far minority of not doing it myself often. I dislike VT, OSU, Maryland and Kentucky way more than Pitt and Marshall. Maybe because I have good friends that are very cool from those two schools and everyone I know from the four I despise are jerks at all times.

I agree with the Marshall comments. I’ve never understood playing them. It’s a lose lose for us. We win, who cares, we are supposed to. We play a close game and win it’s a loss for us. We lose it’s devastating. I don’t understand the draw for this game especially from the WVU side.

I thought it was cool to schedule them a few times in the 90's. But once politicians got involved in it, I was 100% against it. Now basketball and other sports, schedule it imo.

Liked what he had say and liked the way he answered the question on leaving.

It's going to be good for WV.

Awesome! He is going to give it his best shot and there is no doubt about that. I think in the right situation he can be an elite level coach and we are the right situation. With Pat McAfee and Kendrick on board, I believe he will take this to greater heights than we've had in the B12 so far. The playoffs and a run are possible with this situation.

I'm hopeful we can challenge for the Big 12 title and the CFP by year 3. Possible year 2 but I will remain a little cautious on getting my hopes up that quick.

I'm not and never was in favor of the hire but it is what it is. Winning cures a lot of ill will.

The problem is that when you put someone on a pedestal, like quite a few fans on here are doing, if it crashes it may take you down with it.

But, the results will speak for themselves. Either he comes in and starts winning 8+ every year or he doesn't. We got him on the cheap so maybe we luck out. Until then, its all talk...

Let's revisit next December. Then, we'll have a better idea of the direction the program is heading.

Pastilong and Manchin engineered the series. Doc was hired to beat WVU in Huntington in 2010. Would have happened if not for the Tron Martinez fumble. Ollie pulled the plug on it and Huggy pulled the plug on the basketball series after Danny D'Antoni's diss of him. The ONLY way Marshall plays WVU in football is if we end up in the Sun Belt. After today, KK and the other money people will NEVER allow that to happen.

Tbone61 is the biggest hypocrite on the board. All in says hypocrite Tbone61. I won't embarass you by bumping old threads, since I've always been a fan of yours since the invention of the internet.

Dangerous Dan, still the same lame game. Same lame since 2010. Dan, tell me how my friend Sistersville is doing. I remember putting knots on his head back in the FHS Pirate days when we were the dominant, most feared team in WV.

My take from his press conference was that he said the things that needed to be said. If he would have totally ignored the questions on leaving for Michigan, or if he would have said "I don't want to talk about the past", then I believe that would have given some people more fuel to continue bashing on him. But when he came out several times with the "I made a mistake" and "should have never left" statements, that will go a long way in healing wounds.

I'll be honest, when he left, I couldn't stand the guy. I thought he turned his back on all of us. But after several years, and more maturity, I understand that in life sometimes you make difficult decisions, and sometimes those are wrong. But if any of us were offered to do the same job that we are doing now, for double the money and triple the opportunity, we would ALL make that move. For everyone of us to believe that "he's a WVian and should stay at WVU" mindset was wrong. Now, for the things that happened AFTER his decision (ex. lawsuits and trying to get out of buyout), I get and understand the vitriol from our fans. Divorces can be ugly, but hopefully time heals all wounds.

It was a horrible loss. It devastated not only Rich and the team, but every WVian statewide. You can argue it destroyed the program and I would agree. That’s why Rich needed this and why we needed this. If he fails here, at the very least it will be closure. If you don’t want to support him and the program, that’s your right. Now get out of the way.
