The old Big East was tougher overall
But with so many teams, there were always a couple of bottom feeders. You can never take anybody for granted, but there were teams where you didn't need your A game to win.
The Big12 is tough this year. Year in and year out, I don't see it as being as tough long-term as the Old Big East. However, there are no "off nights" in this league either.
