1 your conference affiliation
2 your committment to the sport
3 your coach who spews meaningless "doctrines"
4 your ability to raise money other than car washes

The Herd has no commitment to sports any longer. I'm not really sure they've had any commitment to sports for at least the last 15 years. They had a couple decent football teams, but it wasn't due to coaching. They simply got lucky with some talented players that were overlooked by the big boys, or didn't have the grades to get into a big boy school.

Coach Dan is probably in Charleston as we speak, recruiting white redneck boys from Southern WV to fill the roster for next season.

How screwed up is that? BTW, Fort Wayne is actually decent. That's one of those IUPU-EIEIO Farmer in the Dale schools.

That "doctrine" was far from meaningless. It resulted in Marshall losing the biggest and most meaningful game on their schedule in the eyes of their fans.
